Now that I got my SAS finished I am looking around and researching to do a transmission upgrade or swap out before my stock one kicks the bucket on me.
So far I learned that a 700r4 from a 2.8L GM V6 is a nice swap out to replace the 91-94 A4LD trans. However, there are many types of 700r4's out there and in the process, I have gotten confused at the fact that a 700r4 from a 1986 IROC won't work with this type of swap out. (Am I right or wrong with this statement?) Therefore, I did a bit more research on this and found out that in order to do a 700r4 tranny replacement, it must come out of a 2.8L GM V6 60 degree engine. (Again, am I right or wrong?) Preferably something after a '86 GM vehicle.
Trying to figure out what vehicle contained a 2.8L 60 degree V6 that we could score a 700r4 from is quite intensive. ( I tried looking around the forum for something to help me out).
Anyway these are the vehicles that I came up with that contained the 700r4's that we so desperately need in order to get this swap done:
1988 Buick Regal
1987-1990 Chevy Beretta
1987-1990 Chevy Cavalier Z24
1987-1990 Chevy Corsica
1987 1989 Ponitac 6000
1988 Pontiac Grand AM
(I could be wrong with these vehicles aas I am still learning about this)
If anyone feels that this info is wrong or have any inputs, please chime in as I think this could help out a bunch of people who are interested in doing a swap out llike this.
