79 Mustang, new daily driver?

Ran across this thread that was a good viable question, note user "69boss" and what his comment was, that's exactly how I feel:

Sure you have to store that stuff, but hey for a guy like me that's my retirement.

If I lived in New York, I'd go get that guys parts too.

saw that thread too, some of those guys have a strange set of priorities when it comes to their cars.

I wonder if they would suggest sub-frame connectors on my Explorer? :p:

I might have figured out why my brakes aren't working very well. when I installed the rotors, I hit them with WD-40 to keep them from rusting. yesterday evening I took it for another drive after readjusting the rear drums, and hit the brakes pretty good. the rears locked up and it didn't seem like the fronts were doing anything. so I reluctantly put it away for the night and figured it needed a new master cylinder. :( then I was talkin to my dad about it and remembered the WD on the rotors. DUH!! the calipers can squeeze all they want but nothin ain't gonna happen! so I'm gonna go clean them up, re-hang my rear view mirror and take her for another spin. here's hoping for the best!

so I've got this minor problem. I really need to fix my vacuum system so I can tune the car up. I had received a replacement charcoal canister from Jeff, but it may not work. the original had a number of vac lines running to one of the rubber nubbins on the top. the new one has a single line running into the top edge of the can.

helpful imagery?

I don't have any pics of the newer one, but I believe it to be from a fuel injected model as opposed to carbed.

would I be able to simply "tee" all of my lines into the one inlet for my replacement, or should I be looking for a direct replacement?
anything you could do to help would be very... helpful.

The caps pop off the top ;)

Give it a try, it's worth a shot.

I've temporarily solved the problem with the clogged cat. I cut an opening in it, busted the insides out and welded it back up. pics to follow. I will purchase a real cat after the car is torn down for paint and body but it'll do great till then! there's enough exhaust flow to really get the turbo movin'! the tech book is in the mail and I should have the vacuum system up and running in a couple of weeks. a couple paychecks later I should be able to drop some dough on all my tune-up parts. She'll be purring in no time!

oh, and I've named the car Lola. and it's a girl car. ...I checked ;)

haha, girl car! thats a good one! that and, i am sure some people may disagree with me on this, but, if you have gutted the cat, and it is still there. leave it like that. your still original, and you still have a cat in it. wink wink, nudge, nudge.

Vibration + Car Sitting for years = Check the U-Joints!!!!!

that is the top. and either we don't have vehicle inspections here, or I've been breaking some laws for the last four years :p: even if we had emissions crap, isn't this car too old for it?

ok, I would have sworn I read something about cutting the bottom out, maybe I'm just to tired to think straight. Having your cats is federal law, if your car came with them you have to have them, legally speaking. Your not allowed legally to remove any of the emissions equipment, or change how it operates.
