- '97 XLT AWD
Hi everybody,
First off. Great forum. This will definately be a new place for me to hang out.
On to my problem. My '97 XLT (5.0 AWD) has 208,000 miles. It recently devleloped a grinding noise from 30-75+ MPH. At first, the grinding went on and off randomly. Now it is constantly grinding at speed. It feels like the grinding is coming from the front end. It gets louder the faster I go and does not seem related to engine rpm. It's definately related to wheel rpm. Curiously, the grinding gets better from 66-68 MPH. Any ideas anybody? Is there any way to disable the AWD so that I could isolate the grinding as a TC problem or driveline? Thanks
