i have a 97 mountaineer and the when you turn the ac on the ac compressor works but the clutch does not kick on....i jump the power wire for the ac clutch and it works but when you turn the ac on it does not turn on by it self its not getting power to the clutch when i turn the ac on....any ideas?? does it use a fuse???

Hello fellow mounty owner,
A couple of things to check are pressure of coolant, or maybe a leak.
Also, there is a pressure switch near the accumulator that actually switches the power to the clutch. You can get a relatively inexpensive fill kit with a gauge. That would be the first step. You may have enough refigerant to produce cool air, but not enough to satisfy the pressure switch, or the switch might be bad. You have already verified the clutch works

thanks for the info...ill check that stuff out
