I've got a 98 Explorer and I was trying to put a radio in. Long story short I pulled out all the fuses one by one replacing the ones that needed to be. The fuses that I checked and replaceed were on the side of the dash on the drivers side. After that I went to start the truck and it wouldn't turn over it only cranked. Mind you the truck started fine before I checked the fuses. Now the theft light blinks every 2 seconds. Obviously it's a pats problem, I just don't know how to reset or by pass it. Please help ...... Thanks

Welcome to this forum! I don't understand what you mean by it cranks but won't turn over. Do you hear the starter turning but there's no engine movement? That could be a defective starter or flexplate.

No I don't think so. The theft light blinks. As far as the cranking that means there are no rpm's. When it turns over thats when it starts to idol. Thanks for your help.

Hey Tony thanks but what am I shopping for if don't know what I need to fix the problem.

i had the same issue. does your check engine light turn on when u turn ignition on? if it dosnt the fuse for the computer is blown. the pats system runs with the computer. if one does not turn on then anti theft system engages and turns fuel pump and does not cause spark. (pretty much does not start but cranks.) also if its not a fuse. check your key. their should be a little square thing. thats the chip for the key if it comes out then your pats system engages as well.

Ok I'll check that out. Thanks

I'm almost certain you've blown a fuse. It ran before you installed the radio and not afterwards. You did something. Did you disconnect the battery while you were working on the radio? While a coincidence is possible, it unlikely.

When you were working on the radio were you sitting in the Passenger's seat?

If so, you might have kicked (and tripped) the fuel pump inertia switch.

Good Luck,

No I checked the fuel pump button and that was fine. Thanks
