HI guys, I have been searching for a thread to help me with this but can't seem to find one that fits the problem. My truck starts fine when its cold or has been sitting for a while. If I have been running it for a while and the engine temp is at normal temp, not high or low. Sometimes when I shut the truck off it will not start again, it turns over but nothing happens. If I let it sit to cool down, sometimes an hour!!! it's starts fine. Last year it only did it a couple times, but this summer it has been doin it alot more. Any help would be great!

...I take it, it is a slower crank when it is warm in the summer???

...My first thought would be to have the battery, then the starter bench tested...My next guess if those checked out perfect would be cables..:dunno:

It cranks over same as it was cold, no difference at all! It just doesn't start till it has cooled down.

This may seem like a silly question, but are you running the air when you shut it down?

My X had that problem and it turned out to be the IAC valve, but only if you were running the air when you shut it off. Replacing the IAC valve solved the problem for me.

I never use the air in my truck, the fuel milage is bad enough! lol

...I would still start with the items I mentioned but, have you figured out if it is a fuel problem as in fuel pressure maybe??

Actually using the air shouldn't cost you much in mileage, about one mile per gallon I think.

I had read about the fuel pump in another thread and will check try that when I have the problem again.

Won't start warm.

My 97 2.3 has a pickup coil on the crank lower front engin. Start in AM. drive 15 mi. have to wait 20-30 would restart. Sorry didn't check your trucks vitals
