Oh, i bought a sonrkel off ebay for $200 AUD (= $150USD roughly) - it's for a 75 series landcruiser; will let you know how it goes. I also bought a Pod filter box from an Australian 5.4 V8, but it appears to be the same Pod style housing as used in the 04 Mustang GT. Should be totally sealed and should hook up to the snorkel with minimal fuss (fingers crossed).

That last set of picture looks like it was a much more difficult trail than the others you have posted.

Ouch on that lovin with the gate, will it rub out or no?

Yeah, it'll rub out, no worries... a little touch up fusion and it'll be all good... I'm planning on refinishing them with white rhino liner anyway.

That trail was nuts, we were on it for at least an hour and a half until we found the other end... alot of trees across it and some nice rocks to crawl over...
A few places were barely wide enough for a 4wheeler, let alone an explorer ;)
I've gotta say... and the guy that was with me said the same, I'm amazed how well this thing works. There were some REALLY soupy spots too, and she didn't even think about getting stuck.
I bottomed the frame out a few times... pretty hard once or twice.. but the mud country's just ripped me right over any trouble spots.
I truly think we've got a pretty good platform here with the 3rd gens... my next step is some armor... rock sliders, front push bar, and a rear bumper guard/ tire carrier.

Ford should have offered a real off road package on these trucks. Something with a more aggressive stance and more ground clearance and maybe an electric locker like Toyota uses on its TRD package. It would have done wonders for its image. Road Bully's truck looks awesome, if Ford had made a few like that from the factory.....

:exp:Not bad! I've tackled similar in my completely stock '93 sport. Ofcourse it was about a week later my clutch started sliping:( I think I rode the clutch a little too mutch. That trail reminds me alot of the washed out road we use to the back of our farm. It used to be a stream bed. Now its a really good trail for stock/slightly modified 4x4s with I think the biggest ledge being about 12" high.:exp:

I'd be impressed to see a bone stock explorer follow me into a few places that I've been.
Especially when I had the frame resting on rocks.

As I said a similar trail. No I definatly cood not go over that huge rock. No offence was intended srry.:(

Cool deal. Nice rig by the way! The only reason mine is stock is lack of time/money/experiance. Plus my explorer isn't a prime candadate for lots of fabrications since the frame and everything else underneath is rusty from the origional owners trecks up to Michigan in the dead of winter.:thumbdwn:

Thanks. :salute:
Mines also not the cleanest underneath.
I'd like to get it all sanded down and painted... then use some sort of rust inhibitor... electric... or spray, I just haven't had time to get it done.

Well unfortunatly it is too late for my bucket o' rust but once it dies, I plan on investing in another explorer in better condition.

After my experience... I'd recommend a 3rd gen any day. ;)

Those Dick Cepek rims are sharp yet rugged too! Not as flashy as Micky Thompson rims which is nice.:D

Thanks, I like them as well...
I first saw them in chrome, but figured the black and polished look would be better on a white truck.

Keep going... the pics are great! :)

I'm going to hit the trail again this weekend, if not tomorrow.
I've had a few new spots recommended that I've gotta try. :)

A while back...

I tried once to go down a road back here... let's say the security was overwhelming. So, later I headed for a church, they have open land... they said it was okay to go, just cruise tho...

(the pic is altered a bit just for fun)
