A-piller Guage pods?

when you order tranny temp gauge from Summit order an adapter as well.... that would be if you'd want to go very proffesionally about it... part number: ATM 2286

here's the link:
Tranny Temp Gauge Manifold

later,

PS. The other one I got for my 98 was an engine oil temp gauge... looks pretty cool.

Thanks for the info,

I should be able to get something a little cheaper than the adapter at summit I would think.

I was hoping I could find a "T" with barbs on either end as a pass through that I could just slide the cut tranny cooler rubber tubing over and secure with hose clamps, then just screw in the Temp Probe that comes with the gauges.

If I were to get the one you linked from summit is that made to install on the hard line or the rubber, I would like to avoid cutting the hard line if possible. Has anyone placed the sender in the drain plug for the tranny? I saw this done on a couple different websites after a Google search. But not on the Explorer that I have heard.

As for the Oil Gauge where did you tap into to get that reading? I've read on some sites most Oil Filter Housings have a hole for this in the middle, is this true of the 5.0L Explorer/Mounty?

Thanks for all the help
-Matt

LOL... I don't have any of the answers for you now... I have not hooked anything up yet... need more time to work on this.... for now pod has been installed and gauges are in... wires are bundled under the hood. I'm exploring my options for now with the oil and trans. I have read somewhere that for oil sender oil pan has to be drilled and adapter needs to be welded in...
ouch!

as for using this hole in the oil filter housing? I'll look into that for sure tonight when I get home... that's an idea.... also if there is possibility to install sender into the drain plug hole.... that would save me some cutting and spending money on hoses and adapters... hope someone has answers before I find out myself...

After googling I saw the senders installed in both the Transmission drain plug and oil drain plug. They mentioned the oil one was more vounerable as it sits lower but the tranny one worked well. They used an adapter to change the size of the drain plug to whatever size the sender is.

I'll see if I can find the links again. I read that the temperature in the oil pan and around the filter are near the same temperature. I also have read about needing to drill a hole into the oil pan but I wouldn't need the temperature to be that exact.

As far as mounting your gauges did you use the A-Pillar gauge pod? Did you paint it to match your interior or leave it black? I was going to run to the auto store and see if they sell vinyl dye in gray to match the interior as I've heard that stuff works great on plastic.

For those of you who have painted it what paint did you use? Where did you get it and about how much did it run.

Wow seems I'm finding questions faster than answers :) Thanks for the help guys.

paint... I have painted mine using paint from AutoZone... they sell paint for all your interior needs... for plastics... plenty of colors to choose from... although the interior on my wife's truck is tan colors didn't match exactly but WTH! it's closer than black...You should be able to get a better match with grey... and I did mount them on the A-pillar... kind of nice with greenish background light.... almost look stock with the only difference that needles are not white but red...

hooking up thought? only hook-up I was able to make so far was the light
:(

I'm still exploring the posibilities...

seems like...... :D

I wanted to install a tranny oil temp gauge... towing a trailer and it might get too hot sometimes you know... but what the heck?!?!? I got a pod for two and figured I'd get oil temp gauge as well.....

a-piller gauge pod

Does anyone know if a F150 triple pod will fit a 95 explorer?

The only thing you could do is try. If it doesn't fit send it back. Certainly some prop point potential.

It would be easier to try to modify a triple F150 pod then to glass two dual Explorer pods together.

I got my dual gauge pod last week, as well as white faced phantom gauges... Water and Trans temp... Probly gonna get installed this weekend... Pics to come of course

Oh oh pics would be great as well as some info on what you used and where you mounted the senders. Good luck on your install.

Please post pics of them lit up at night with out a flash. I want to see what the phantom gauages look like at night. The white with Red needle match my stock gauages perfectly.

THANKS!

yeah Pedro.... especially pics of the tranny sender install would be cool...... I'm still looking around real close to find a T that would be cheaper than $30.00

:(

Sorry I haven't posted any night pics yet. I tried to take some, but there was too much ambient light and my digicam wouldn't take them right. I've been really, really busy lately, but I will get them up this weekend.

Dre did you ever take a look and see if the oil filter housing has a plug by chance?

no... never really got to it.... I'm kind of preoccupied with installation of a lift on my other "X"..... I'm gonna have to face it soon though.... I'll let you all know. Also.... I'll have to post pics too... later,

Here is my oil pressure sender. I mounted in the hose that goes to the oil cooler I installed.
