Check and clean the connections to the wheel speed sensors, otherwise you might have a wheel speed sensor starting to fail.

Umm the shop told me that they couldnt pull codes out of the computer.... they just had to randomly test points they quoted me like 4 hours of labor.... so how whould i go about cleaning these sensors. Is there a thred.... thanks !!!

Umm what do these "sensors" look like? And where are they located?
James

Check the relay sometimes they go bad.

How do you check a relay??? Is there a way!!
Or do you just replace it... thanks
James

I'm having the same issue with my '02 XLT 4WD, except the ABS light stays on now all the time. I scanned for codes, and there are none stored.

Are the front and/or rear sensors able to be cleaned on an '02, or is there something else I should be checking?

I just switched the abs relay with the blower motor relay. ABS light went out and blower motor quit working. I replaced the bad relay.

thanks i will try this tomaro if it comes on cold weather seems to keep the light off

Oops, sorry, I had airbag lights on the brain. That's my other problem. The airbag light...which was showing code 34 and now is showing 19 instead.

The ABS light is still on all the time as usual. Ah, well.:)

Well i sprayed a lot of 2 doller brake cleaner up in the front sensors and it hasnt come on for a few weeks so thanks guys
James

where are the sensors on the front what do they look like

Well

What i did was buy a bottle of brake cleaner and emptyed it by spraying all a round the brakes... The sensors are right behind the tire though kind of of the brake if i remember right..... i did it with the tires on and just sprayed a **** load of stuff back there...... Hope this helps

The ABS wheel sensor is labeled in the 1st picture. The 2nd picture shows the inboard side of a 1st generation rotor without ABS (sorry couldn't find a pic with ABS). Absent in the picture is a tone ring which would be just inside the rotor part. The tone ring looks like a gear/sprocket. When the vehicle is in motion the Wheel sensor (it is a magnetic sensor) will detect when each tooth passes by.. This info is given back to the ABS computer.. Most often the problem is that metal shavings from worn pads and the rotor will collect on the ABS sensor or clog the teeth on the tone ring.. When this happens the sensor becomes blind and cannot detect any teeth (this will cause the ABS light to come on). You cannot clean the sensor while the wheels are still on (just know way to get to it). You should remove the wheels clean the sensor and tone ring..
