jw, i got to pull my engine and put another one in it, im just wondering what a good company for after market headers? i dont have much money, but since i got to take the engine out so i might as well do it. would they pay for themselves n a reasonable amount of time? i looked a torque master header, but i dont have that much money. thanks!
i need them for a 5.0 V8, which is my problem cuse its hard to find them for it...

The only other headers for 5.0 is the Ford Motor Sport (FMS) and they suck! They are discontinued if I remember right. Torque Monster is the only way to go.

In my opinion, spend your money on a replacing preventative items like the water pump, thermostat, and tune up items (plugs, wires, etc..).

I agree- otherwise you'll be posting shortly about spending $800 on headers, but the water pump blew and you're out of cash... :)

Preventative maintenance first- a non-running Ex with mods goes as fast as a non-running Ex without them...

ya jw for ideas, n replacing spark plugs? im puttin a new engine in there? why would i not replace em??? all fluid will be flushed as well.... but what other preventative maintenance would there b? thanks!

ya i was just lookin at headers, i didnt know they were like 700$ i thought they were gonna be around 300 ish...

TMH are the ONLY header option available for the 5.0. Don't waste your money on cheaper alternatives. They're not much different than stock when it comes down to it. TMH on the other hand were engineered to perform, and they work as advertised.

Took me three years to pull the trigger on a set. Worth the wait if that's what it takes. :)

At 240k miles, if you haven't done belt tensioners or pulleys, they're coming soon along with a new belt. I'd do a thermostat and the coolant sensors as well while you're in there, they're only going to be like $15 for the 2 sensors. Do a coolant flush as well. Obviously plugs and wires, and if your Ex looks like this from the front: /---\ you need to toss on ball joints and/or control arms. At that point, the end links and/or sway bar body mount bushings are probably gone too if you get clunks while driving. If the wheel bearings are original, they're probably shot even if they aren't making noise, and check the CV axle boots to see if they're leaking. Shocks?

It's a vicious cycle... But with the miles you have, you're probably at a fork in the road- either you're going to be sinking some cash into her to keep her running well, it's already been done, or bounce it and find a newer one with less miles... :)

well i replaced shocks, sparkplugs, oils, headlights, exhaust, brakes, and alot more other things, cant think of all them now.... o, o2 sensors. too.. but here soon i will replace the engine and tranny, then have new seals for all that stuff, like my headers leak at the gasket, and i figure it will be fine till i replace the engine, cv joints are good, along with the ball joints. yes i kno i need to replace the bushings, but they can hold out for a lil while, its not (needed) to be able to drive, the ones that are the worst are the body mount, i did look at the suspension bushings, and all are good except front a arms...
so only thing is coolant flsh and new sensors? for now?
btw i bought this X for $250 off my naibor, i cant afford anything else, puttin a lil money in this for something that gets me back and forth is cheaper then a new car payment... ( only 17 here) thanks:) anything else?
