Howdy. To begin fixing up the BMW damage on my '92 XL, I bought through a buddy of mine a decent Taiwan/China front, passenger fender. The box says it's galvanized and it's black. My career center body shop is going to do the paint work.

But is the galvanzing and the primer that I suppose they're going to apply be good enough as far as rust protection? This truck will never be exposed to snow or salt but I plan on keeping it for a while. I could have our other buddy apply zinc chromate if needed or something. Thanks.

You should be fine....

Key word is should
That after market stuff is far from stellar.

The black stuff is called E-coat, it is a corosion protective coating.
The aftermarket stuff is rather thin.
The level of protection you will be showing it will be fine.
Just make sure you paint the exposed side.

Thanks. I guess I'll be good. I will have them paintand clearcoat both sides.
