I installed two fog lights on my bumper today. I bought it with the wiring kit harness all ready to go. It included the fuse and relay and a toggle switch. I installed it via the directions that were included. It did not work. I replaced the toggle switch and relay and I had it working for a minute but then the fuse blew. I thought maybe I had wired the toggle wrong but I changed the wiring on the toggle with the same results. The lights came on but blew when I started the car. What could be the reason that the fuse keeps blowing? I am open to any suggestions cause I am getting tired of trying to figure it out. Thanks guys.

I was wondering what the consequences would be if I just bypassed the relay totally. You know, just took it out and rewired it without the relay.

Without the relay you could smoke something in your vehicle's electrical system or catch the wiring on fire...not a good idea.

You probably have something wired wrong. Go here for instructions on how to wire your fogs properly

The fuse that came with the kit is a 15. I was wondering if by going to a 20 or 25 would that help? I am going to double check my wiring and grounds, and if that doesn't help, then I will try the higher rated fuse. If that doesn't work then I don't know what to do.

No, going to a bigger fuse could bring more trouble, the fuse won't blow, then you have a fire...
Just follow the instructions and wire everything properly

Sounds like there is a short in one of your power wires.

You should have 2 wires going to your switch, one from the relay, and one going to a +12v source. For my fogs, I ran it to the parking lights, but I still have a switch to turn them off, but they automatically go off with my parking lights. You could also run it to your battery, and just remember to turn them off when you get out.
I did however have a problem when I was using a bosch relay, the parking light wire didn't put out enough power to completly flip the relay, so they would flash.

i agree sounds like you have a short somewhere.

Thanks for all the responses guys. I was hoping that by buying the lights with the wires and relay all harnessed and ready to go, that I would be able to just hook it up to the truck and go. Silly me, I guess I will be working on it this weekend. I noticed that in the harness, all of the two foglight grounds, the relay ground, and the toggle switch ground all feed into one ground wire. I wonder if that could be a problem? I am going to separate them anyway and have two or three grounding points, but I was just curious about that. Anyway, I will have them going this weekend hopefully and perhaps have some pics of my ride up here. It's mostly stock on the outside except for the lights and decals, but there will be more to come hopefully. Later guys.
