Ambient Lighting Problems

When mine reboots and changes back to the default blue, I also have to turn down the screen brightness offset which gets reset to full bright.

just another example of Ford knowing a problem exists and turning a blind eye to it year after year. maybe rebecca could check to see which department in ford has responsibility for turning a blind eye to existing problems and continuing to crank out more vehicles with the same issue? thanks.

The issue of color returning to default has only been an issue since 3.6.2, so Auguat 2013 at the earliest. Though I do understand it's a major issue.

I would consider water leaks and loss of steering 'major' issues, not the ambient lighting problem. Although the return to default only seems to have occurred after the latest update there were much earlier reports of the colours changing on their own. If 3.6.2 indeed has a built in reboot program as some have suggested, then the return to default is tied to that. Since I haven't had to reset and settings, I can only assume mine is not 'auto rebooting'.

Jumping to conclusions, as you seem prone to do, there is a difference in knowing a problem exists and fixing it, especially if the problem doesn't seem to be affecting everyone.

We need the option to ignore people. If we had it, I would surely use it for this guy.

Hi, rua4x4,

Like Peter said, your dealership will have to diagnose this concern; after that, they may need to contact their support for the next steps. If you don't want to make a separate appointment, you can always wait until your next oil change (but sure to let them know you'd like it looked into).

Rebecca

Rebecca, As Crystal suggested, I took mine to the dealer. I didn't accomplish anything other than the inconvenience of being without my vehicle and travel time. It was waste of everybody's time. All the dealer did was try turning it on and off and said it was working. I leave mine off and it has turned itself back on at least 5 times since the middle of January visit to the dealer. The lighting issue is not a safety problem and it doesn't appear to affect everyone, but there seems to be enough people complaining about it that Ford should make an effort to fix the problem. I have been a die hard Ford owner since the 80's and know Ford can do better that this.

Yes, I agree the advice of taking this specific issue to the dealer is misleading IMO. It's obvious there is no way a dealer is going to correct this issue.

Sounds like a software issue in MFT and Ford should have engineers looking into it. As stated above whether or not they are actually doing that is the question.

You are correct in that the dealer is not able to fix this issue, but the fact that you go in and have them look at it gets another incident "in the books". From what I understand, each problem is entered into a database that tracks various issues and this would be something that Ford is able to look at.
So if you don't take it in, then your problem doesn't get reported. Although it can be a very inconvenient way of reporting the issue, I guess there isn't an alternative.

In this case, there are certain steps your dealership can take to correct this issue. If you'd like me to escalate this to your regional manager, slc10844, just shoot me a PM with the following: VIN, current mileage, preferred dealership, and best contact phone number.

They are and have been looking into this since I escalated it to my support. :) However, like Peter said, in some cases, we do require our customers to visit a dealership so certain issues can be documented, looked into further, and corrected.

Rebecca,

I'd like to thank you for being here and providing a indirect line (for us) to the support team at Ford.

I didn't mean to imply that you hadn't told anyone what's going on. Just that we don't know where that information goes (nor do I think we deserve daily updates) once you pass it along.

I'm just glad that Ford has people like you on the boards so they can get firsthand accounts of what's going on.

It's all good, anonymous; I just wanted to let you know (I'm totally going to fill your inbox with daily updates now ;) ).

With all of that said, the "thanks" goes to all of you for letting me know of your concerns. Keep them coming! I may not always comment, but I do keep my eyes open for new trends.

Rebecca

That's good to know. Not sure if I should keep or dispose of those 'bell bottom' pants I have in the closet.:D:thumbsup:

NOOOOOOOO! If you throw yours out, I'll have throw mine out. LOL Bring the bells back (again).

If you are that upset about this issue take it to the dealer. We have already identified the cause: MFT performs scheduled reboots when you are not in the vehicle which cause a loss of certain settings (ambient color is one such setting).

To reproduce it for the dealer, set the ambient light color to anything other than the default. Then, follow the procedure here: http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=382163

Once MFT reboots it will have defaulted to factory light blue.

Boom.... dealer can reproduce, will escalate to Ford, yada yada.

But, since this is a MFT problem, I'm guessing Rebecca has already reported it up the chain.

Rebecca, could you confirm that with the 3.6.2 update that the MFT does automatic scheduled reboots of the MFT system?
I have not had to reset any settings (ambient or otherwise) before or since updating to 3.6.2. Thanks.

Peter

14 sport with the same issue.. sooo annoying. When I go back in to change it to my preferred color and brightness it is set to the proper settings initially but then changes itself to the default blue and max brightness on the mft screen.

Anonymous .....accounts of what? how many people are standing by the water cooler?

You paid good money for your vehicle, have a little self esteem and demand even a little responsibility/credibility from the people who took your money,..... instead of crawling on the ground and begging for mercy. The reason Ford can produce crap and sell it is because they believe most people just grin and bare it.....sound familiar?

I'm glad that you appreciate what the Reps are doing for us. As for the member trysixty, just ignore him. He seldom adds anything of value to this Forum. If you check out his posts you will find little in the way of helpful or positive posts. One of the most negative members we have.
