Ambient lighting

This is my wife's camaro, I think it's pretty safe to say that the pink is all her:

Pink or not, I'd drive the hell out of the Camaro.

:D

Are those parking guideline newspapers on the driveway ??? !!!
I guess you have to be careful with that bad set of wheels...

Regardless of what color you choose, the car will be set to light blue during entry/exit. Then when you turn on the engine, it changes to your preset color. Is this what you are experiencing?

Interior Light Kit Ford Genuine Accessory

I just bought an 2013 XLT. I realize after the fact that the limited has ambient lighting.

There are few other threads that go over ambient lighting. I realize that's another whole new option, you cannot get after market.

The interior light kit, http://accessories.ford.com/kit-additional-lamp-electr-parts.html

show one one light for cup holder and one light bar for front foot wells. Hardly the equivalent to the ambient light kit on Limited--> which has lights in the interior door, ring lights in the cup holder and floor wells and center console. It is integrated into the Nav center console menu.

However, I have a question, has anybody installed this interior light kit, and does it look? Is it worth it? Does it have an option to integrate into Nav menu? Is it easy to install can you DIY? Do you have to drill hole? Is there a dealer option to get the full ambient light from the limited?

The description is hardly desirable, doesn't contain anything about instruction or diagrams or what's included. Though I have found a diagram picture from another thread... the description is fruitless. http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=314984

The ambient lighting isn't worth it in my opinion for 200 dollars. Especially not some small kit like that. I'd go aftermarket and fight some interior lighting kits that are way better than that.

I have ambient lighting in my Fusion but it's not really that amazing so you're not missing much.

I feel your pain Jdubo. I have been looking around, craigslist, ebay for the kit. so essentially I'm slowly going to be creating my own kit over time. I did an overhead LED to shine light down on the console. Next will be the floors then the doors. all in due time.

2014 Explorer Sport Accent Lighting

This is a very nice vehicle but we have experienced a couple quirks. When you change the accent lighting color it changes back to the default color every few days. Our cell phone will not auto sync half the time. Anyone else experienced this? Not a big deal but annoying for this premium model.

never had an issue with our 13. it goes to default when you open the doors every time, but when you turn the lights on the ambient lighting color is whatever you picked.

Hi, rstroud100,

Which phone do you have, and do any other settings change when your ambient lighting resets?

However, I'm still figuring out whether or not the bluetooth issue is with my phone OR the MFT. Haven't really had a chance to dig deeper but what I currently notice is that it works fine, then every now and then, I have to reboot my phone to get MFT to connect. Never had that issue with other bluetooth devices connected to my phone so...

haven't noticed anything but the lighting resets.

Oooookay, I just went down to the garage and confirmed that my 2013 Ex Limited has the metal embossed scuff plates, (non illuminated), for the front. NO metal plates at the rear. If I’m reading these posts correctly, the rear should have those metal scuff plates too, no? What’s up with that?
Also, for those of you who voiced that they’d like to add ambient lighting to the rear doors, be advised that my wife’s Lincoln MKT has that lighting. Maybe you can look into that . The Limited only has two mini spotlights at the rear of the console, (in addition to the roof lights). BTW, I vote for the red or purple ambient choice. Very impressive at night.

The metal scuff plates are only found on the sills for the two front doors. There are none for the back doors in any of the models.

"Embossed scuff plates front and rear on our Limiteds".
Hmmmmmm, maybe your two pooches wrote that ??? !!!

At least I feel better knowing Ford did not forget to put on two rear scuff plates!

Thanx -

Shelties are too smart for their own good! :D
I went back and corrected my post. The rears are also called sill plates and I guess I assumed, incorrectly, that they also had the metal scuff plate. Should have made one of my numerous trips to the garage to confirm I guess.
Thanks for checking up on me David. ;)

So Bluetooth issue is definitely the phone and not the MFT. I connected two other phones and have no problems with them.

Also for people dying to have ambient lighting...my humble opinion...I found it super cool for the first 5 minutes changing the colours for my 2 year old son to gawk at. After that, it has been an after thought. Don't know why Ford doesn't have it standard in all the Explorer trims.

This is coming from someone who loves all the little technological gadgets in any vehicle I get...
