Another OHV M90 build

Ya, I'm not interested in paying a bunch of money for that.
My truck is old. Maybe if it was newer, but I'm more inclined to let it get a bit banged up now. People still piss me off the way they drag their bumpers against your vehicle, and hit it with their doors, really not giving a crap.

O man i hear that.mine is old as dirt but about to paint it.there was these two kids at the end of my street that was shooting my car with those air soft bb's because my alarm would chirp every time they hit it,so they thought it was funny.i caught there ass on my house surveillance cameras and called the cops on them.i didnt press charges but told them if i caught them doing it again i would.my hole side looks like a golf ball!!:(well maybe not that bad BUT STILL!

I don't think my iat's are all that bad. Not all that good, but not that bad. I will still have to come up with some sheathing to isolate my air intake filter from the rest of the engine bay. That will help some.

I think fixing my idle issue threw my tuning off (Not sure how, as even with air running thru the idle valve, it was still metered air). Lots of pre-ignition/detonation happening. Both part and full throttle. I don't remember hearing it before.
James is still tuning, so it isn't a big deal, but might be a bit of a piss off for him to re-do some of what he has done already.

You still running stock plugs? I would step down to NGK TR6 they are a step colder.i ran those before the sc to help detonation,i running two steps colder now;)your temps seem to be average for your boost and no ic

Yes, stock plugs.
I'll try a set of the plugs you mentioned.

O yea for sure, surprised you didnt go with them with you raised your compression. Those stock plugs can melt and the tip break off.you have to just search by the part number ngk tr6 basic copper tip plugs.they dont last as long but they are very cheap and will help for sure.he will be able to tune most of that detonation out but you should still run those

I never did research what to do with plugs. Thanks for looking out for me.

Gap?

Its less,im at work right now but have the specs at home.wann say its like.030.045.ill check and post when i get home.if you wanna research it here or on rps the specs will come up,if you need them right away.

Those are the specs.i ran mine at .040

Thanks. I'll re-gap also and get them in tonight.
The back of my hands were just healing up nicely. Sounds like its time to scrape them up again doing plugs.

Haha yea i have the non-ac box so mine are sooo easy to do.i would run it by james that you do have higher compression and running a step colder plug.sure it wont effect tunning but he may have some advice also, may want you to go even colder.the two step colder plugs are special order only around here,i ordered 12;)

I am not sure about about .40 grap when isn't stock .044? I run .036 on a NGK TR6 plug. No issues. If your curious how I came to that number I went over to rangerpowersports.com and looked at posts by Doug904 (from Bama chips). Also another member on the board confirmed it when I too was asking this question.

Stock is .054 and .036 is VERY close to .040 the safe ideal range is .030-.045
also did you see my post about your temps?

Yea, didn't get a chance to run the truck today to confirm. This was the last time I was on the highway coming home I gave it some wot and didn't see that. Keep in mind my iat is in my intake tube after my maf. Will get you guy some numbers hopefully tomorrow. Need to install the sct software on my work laptop.

Its in the wrong place then, not safe at all.you need to move it to where it is AFTER the charger.ie the lower intake manifold under the charger.you need to be able to see the temps after the air goes through the charger and gets heated.its no wonder why your temps are so low,if your seeing 120 there then your real temps that are entering your engine have to be way over 200

HUGE +1!

Keep in mind Phix isnt using an M90. Its a ?. Phix?
I remember it is mounted like an alternator would me, with an air inlet, and a presurized oulet. I dont know how much that style of charger heats the air.

You sure?? Thought it was the old instacharger? Thats just the old bbk kit that uses a m90.either way it would be in the wrong spot if its after the maf,no matter what the maf is pre blower

You are correct JD. I did some research to make sure I understand what temperatures we are talking about here. I looked up the MAF I am using and I am tad confused by what temperatures are being reported. I will look up the PID I am usinng to make sure we are all on the same sheet of music.

It shouldnt matter what maf your using.i belive your iat was in your stock maf,how many wire does your maf conector and sensor have?.you have to add a new sensor in the lower intake manifold after the charger.your need to cut the two wires that are in your maf and wires those to the new sensor, unless you all ready did this but just mounted it into the tube after your maf..
