Another OHV M90 build

I've said this once or twice, and I'm saying it again 'I hate winter'.

My list of things to do is growing:
Drivers side front:
Repl Upper control arm.
Repl avle seal.

Drivers rear:
Repl gas fill tube: gross vapour leak engine code.

Passenger front:
Exhaust manifold gasket....earlier on in this thread I was wondering how long it would take for the passenger side to blow out (since the drivers side did). Well? Its blowing open now.

On the positive, fun side....motor is running really good and strong. I have a m90 rotor pack inm the mail that has had the rotors coated and some port work done. And, Tim made me a mount for my coil pack.

Once it warms up, ill heat up the garage on a saturday morning and get started. I have all the parts. It sounds like the drivers upper control arm and axle seal are a pain in the butt to do. Ill have to give myself extra time for agrivation and swearing.

Your still running stock manifolds? Maybe they are warped. Might wanna throw a straight edge on it or consider headers now that you gota pull them anyways... you like my voice of reasoning. Haha good to hear about the motor, im really missing mine!!

Its those header gaskets that came with the pacesetters. I should never have used them. Drivers is replaced with a factory steel gasket, and the passenger side is now becoming a priority. Its starting, so it won't take long for it to blow wide open.

I think my truck is running stronger with the arger SC pulley than it did with the tired motor and smaller pulley. Its going to be fun with a tight M90, smaller pulley, and water-meth.

Tim and I are going to have some fun at the track this summer.

hey, if you need some help, i can give you a hand. the axle seal isnt to bad. the upper ball joint can be a pain, but i have done two on the last two rangers i bought (and sold the one i showed you today as well, WOOHOO PARTS CASH!), so i can tinker with it.

also, have you tried messing around with the idle yet? wanted to know how that went.

and i will stop by monday and grab that filter from you (as long as my other parts are in at motion), and coil bracket so i can recut it

Is there any talks of an actual airbox (closed) for this setup? I don't have have many friends who are as willing as Tim. Don, in so many words if you guys do the work getting one made, I'll cover cost of materials for both trucks. Please let me know your thoughts, you have convinced me to pick up a set of headers and see what happens.

don has own little set up he made, and i have to make a c.a.i. that will be just a plate to hold the filter and maf.

My setup uses the hood as the top of the 'box'. Its not a perfect seal as the bucket I used that was laying around in the garage wasn't quite long enough. Its pretty close though, and there is no question air is now pulled from the front of the vehicle. Phix, I don't have any real interest in making a intake box, as what I have works fine. I need it to be easy to pull my intake off as my oil fill cap is directly underneath the air inlet pipe. Just make something like I did. Super easy.

I fixed my exhaust leak today. Garage wouldn't even really warm up. Propane fumes from my heater....bla bla bla....
Long story short...DO NOT USE THOSE SOFT GASKETS THAT COME WITH THE HEADERS.
The gasket had become very brittle, and a chunk had blown right out.

My SC case and rotors are back.

I'm a bit concerned about the noise ports being epoxied closed. Ive read about it, and am not even sure if it gives a performance gain.

Another concern is that the epoxy breaks down and gets pulled thru my motor. Ive never heard of this actually happening to anyone, so I won't get my panties in a knot over it. I understand there will be quite a bit more blower whine with those ports closed.

Rotor coating looks great. Snout is already rebuilt. Once It warms up enough to actually be able to heat up the garage, I'll get the new SC together.

I wouldnt have used epoxy. There has been cases of it falling out.also no power gains have been shown.only true way is to slug it and tig weld it.but only makes it wine louder.if you have a ic under the sc would be a lot safer.

I wish he'd have asked before doing that. Oh well.
I'm sure he hadn't had any come apart on him yet, or I'm sure he wouldn't be doing that epoxy fill any more.
And, yes, an intercooler would make me feel safer

I emailed the guy that did the work, and he replied quickly that he has never had a failure. He understands my configuration, and is absolutely certain I will have no issues. Apparently his SC has been running with the ports epoxied shut for over 3 years now, and he is absolutely certain there will be no issue.He said he does this on every port job, and never a failure.

Logan feels its all in the prep work. This prep work also includes the rotors before coating them. He says the reason factory rotor coatings peel is that there is nothing for the factory rotor coating to stick to as the rotors are left extremely shiny before coating them.

Im going to run with it. I'll be interested in the results (Im sure everyone else is also).

To me it wouldnt be worth it.there is no gains there so why would any porter do it.I reseached it a lot when I was having mine done.yes prep work is huge for both, but the coating also comes into play.but any coating is better then none."IF" the fill holds, your like the sound and no doubt your love the coating!!sure im just a worry wart

I thought about the "what if" I were to work at removing the epoxy. That would be no fun.
I'll have to keep thinking about this.

No way would I remove it.sure he does a good job at it.removing it would mess up a lot!

That's just it. There may have been anchor holes drilled in the case to make sure the epoxy won't break loose. Then I start removing epoxy and have a real mess on my hands.
As soon as the cold weather breaks ill get this badboy installed. The stock looking 2000 explorer with serious blower whine. Pretty funny.

Were still dealing with an awful lot of weight, but were making the best of it.
I wouldn't have an issue with a v6 mustang, but a GT? It would be fun to try.

Its so frieken cold here, all I can do is dream.
