Heres the low down:

Last weeked we went to smorr for the weekend. Other then a small issue with our hubs we wheeled the pee out of it. Drove it home just fine other then a prank phone call to my buddy all was well. Drove it monday and tuesday washed it thursday. Later I noticed some drips on track bar and I noticed this.

Yes the pitman shaft seal is leaking. But look how much spline is showing.I seen CBJORDANS post,he can get a puller on his and I can't tighten mine any further the what it is.
Here is the best pic's I could get of the gear box so maybe someone will know what kindof gear box it is.

Saturday morning I drove it and after a mile the sterring wheel started wobbling back and forth bad.

Had that issue not to long ago. and we replaced all hime joints and bushings also we replace axle u-joints and brake pads on both sides.

My questions

Why can't I tighten the pitman arm up anymore then that?

Is this a explorer sterring box or bronco?

This is a SAS with 79 bronco suspenion on a 92 ex.

Yes just changing it is the fix,but I'm more interested in the why it happened.Along with what gear box it is??

If more pic's need just let me know!!
Thanks:salute:

Ok, in this thread I see the pitman arm in the original lift Felix installed.

And here is after he decided to SAS instead

You can barely see it but it looks like the pitman arm is about as tight as you have it now

Maybe we just need to pull it and replace the seal. The wobble may be something else, bearing, radius arm bushings--etc

Thanks Dave in the frist link on 3rd page seen a pic of same pitman arm,but not enough of the shaft area.

I may know where ones at if he's not took it to rays yet. And hope rays hasn't scraped it yet.

Just seems like alot of splines showing it's got me wandering?? And why the wabble if it's right??

Typically, the steering gear shaft where the pitman arm sits is tapered (wider as it goes towards the box). Could be that the particular arm you have only goes up that far before the taper on the shaft is too wide for it to go up any higher.

Still have the pitman shaft seal leak. But it seems that my track bar bushing needed some more tighting. A quick hit with the impack and were good to go for now. I hope

Added some lucas power sterring stop leak to the pump. Cause I had it on hand. Will it help?? don't know but it can't hurt.
