I'm looking to replace my batteries and I would really like to set both under the hood. I figured it shouldn't hinder the performance of the amplifier and id like to conceal them. Could I run 2 lower series batteries and be safe. I'm looking for a different set of agm deep cycles.

Where there is a will there is way probably have to make custom holder for sure.

Your right. I can always fab something to mount them I was just trying to see if anyone has found space to squeezem in. I was pondering on two smaller batteries sideways in the battery tray but not sure if its feesable. I just want it out of the back of the truck.

I'm keeping my eye on this thread. I need to get a second battery in there for using my Readywelder.

All i am running right now is KC slimlights and a pretty nuts stereo. A winch/compressor are next on the list. On board welder would be pretty sweet! Like i was saying i just want my 2nd battery out of the back. It'd look better and make me feel better. Also it would give me more room for my next box build. Ive also got quick connects like youd find on reach trucks and turret stock pickers that im wiring up for a jumper location. Not specifically for me but why pop the hood if i need power when i can just plug it in ;)

I have a dual battery system in my 99 mounty. I have the 2nd battery mounted under the rear cargo area. Here are a couple of pics.

I had already removed the spare tire carrier so I mounted the battery box there.

Hmmm thats an interesting alternative. You said you removed the tire carrier meaning the winch? My only negative thought on that would be all the evap junk underneath. I removed the spare about 2 weeks after the truck was bought. I like your setup for even running more than 2 batteries, with trays like those i could probably fit 5 or 6...... way down the line when my progressive stereo collection is complete/. How did you seal it all up, welds or silicone?

Also are you running 2 yellow tops and how do they treat you? And what utilizes them?

The box is aluminum, so welding was out.(I'm a novice welder at best.) It is bolted(via a flange on the top of the box) to the floor and sealed with automotive sealant. The same stuff they use at the factory. I removed the winch and the cross piece the winch was mounted on. The evap stuff is still in it's original location and the part that used to mount to the cross piece now mounts to the side of the battery box. I can get some pics from underneath if you want. You may have noticed the tape on the carpet in the first pic... I had originally mounted the box front to back next to the tire carrier. It was mounted to the frame so when it came time for the body lift I had to find a different way. I pulled the tire stuff and mounted it side to side to the floor of the cargo area. Much better setup I think.

Sorry, slow typer. The main(stock/front) battery covers all the stock functions and the optima covers aux lighting, inverter, rear power points and the aux power for my trailer.(winch and power jack). Future plans will have on board air on the rear battery as well.

I can get some pics from underneath if you want.

That would certainly be helpful, I like your idea for future reference. And to see how one was mounted will let me mentally configure multiple in the same manner

Raining now, I'll try in the morning. I see you're in Glassboro, I'm outside Hammonton.

Bummer! I can't/won't use Opimas for welding. Every time I have I have killed them. They just don't like it. The group 65's just keep on going though. Maybe I can fanegal one of them in partially under the fender.
