I need suggestions in making the tranny bullet-proof when I rebuild it. Any performance torque converters, rebuild kits, or ??????

Thanks in advance.

I remember someone making a 9 speed out of the A4LD, but I can't remember who it is, and I can't find it in a search. I think it was done by a guy in Phoenix, but I can't remember. Hopefully this will remind somebody that will know what is going on, because I'm interested too. My A4LD is on its last leg, I was thinking about getting a manual because if I ever can afford the Atlas II, I want the 4.3 not the 3.8.

If everybody is different, how can anyone be normal?

That was Doug's Transmission in Pheonix Arizona. Gloria's 93 explorer has the 9 speed with manual lockup and manual overdrive.

Doug will build your tranny if you ship it to him (last I heard he would).

Here is the info on them..

We had our a4ld rebuild at 160k and it cost us $1300 which included labor and a external tranny cooler

Thanks. I've been wondering about that.
