Attica II the aftermath

ATTICA WAS A TOTAL FREAKIN BUST FOR ME

Looking at those pictures makes my heart ache.... We DID make it up there on Sunday, but we left too late and it was a while before me and my dad got up there. We brought the Explorer and left his pickup. From Terre Haute (20 miles from me) it a straight shot all the way to Attica. We got slowed down by the festivals and grandmas, then we got to Attica and had no idea where to go. I went to the IGA and called info and they said Xavier road so we had no idea where the hell that was and went to a gas station and she told us where. We get there 5 minutes later and not a single Explorer on the lot. The farthest we got was the parking lot. I didnt know if you guys left or were already out so I asked the little man in the building and he said you were all out there somewhere. Then we didnt know how much it would be. I thought the 15 was only for 4whelers and dirtbikes. We couldnt see anywhere to take a truck out. We stood around outside for about a half hour and went home. I posted those questions in the "Attack on Attica 2" post Friday at school because my modem was out and I thought the guy would have it fixed the same day and it didnt work. So I was ill prepared but it just makes me mad to know we were SOOOO close. I knew we wouldnt be hittin the hard trails. But I just wanted to meet all you guys. Well, enough raving. Is there gonna be another run up there soon? Or maybe some of you guys would just like to pair up w/us and go out there some weekend. Whaddya think?

I believe in another post, I've said I wanna go back before X-mas....Preferably over my thanks giving break...I dunno who was up to this but I know Riff is dying to get out there with his rig....Hopefully he's got the rear end fixed from his little mishap....Kampy? Dave? Matt? Andre? Who's game? I'm up for some late fall mud wheeling...Who knows, maybe a bit of snow will be on the ground...Tell me those wouldn't be pretty pictures?
Thanks,
Pete

ya know what kinda funny.....the guy that towed my rig to get the steering worked on actually goes to attica every once and a while. and he says that there is nothing scaryier than wheelin on that place with snow. makes it all really slick.....so...lets try to get there before snow....cool?

my rig will be done tomorrow, btw.....YAHOOOO!!!!! but all the custom work is killing me....its actually a good thing that i took it to this place with the spring perches all messed up...cause this guy put it on there with the correct pinion angle and everything, so it should run like a champ soon!!!

I think it's far enough south that they don't have alot of snow...I'm game for thanks giving break...Good to hear about the truck Riff!
Pete

Matt,

That second muffler, is not needed. If fact I have never even seen it for sale, then again I have done my own exhaust both times it needed to be replaced. I don't know what was discussed with Kampy, but I know they sell the pipe from the end of the muffler to the tail pipe prebent for my year, they probably do it for yours too.

Just my two cents. Also, as much as I would like to go to Attica again, I don't know if I will have the funds to do so or the time. I am graduation this semester and I will be starting to get pretty busy soon. Also, for those that went to Attica this time, I didn't go Sunday because I hada test to study for, I got the test back today, I aced it. Literally. 100%, I still say that studying is overrated though.

I get my pictures back on Friday morning. I will try to get them scanned on Friday afternoon, but it won't probably be until Saturday some time.

Dave

Well......

well, I went to the badland website. Dad has made it clear that we are absolutely NOT taking the Explorer on any trail where it can get damaged at all. We measured the wheelbase of his pickup and its 133, thats almost 2 feet too long for their rules. But I wouldnt mind at all just sitting around and talkin with some of you guys and maybe I can persuade dad to hit some of the trails, get a few pictures. Does the park have 4wheelers you can rent for the day or do you have to furnish your own? Cuz if we could rent one I'd head out and run some trails on that :D But going up there I knew we probably werent gonna run the Explorer, but I thought it'd be cool to see y'alls rigs and meet some of you. Hopefully we can do that sometime. Lata!

95- I know there are trails that you can do with out damage...We'ev had Rangers out there before...Kampy takes his ranger out there...As for renting, I don't know if you can rent anything....I would doubt that you can.

Pete, I want to go again, but I am out of town for thanksgiving. I would prefer going after my body lift. My poor nerf bars took a beating, but that's my own fault. I'm with Dave, the funds and time will be scarce because of the holidays. Maybe I'll come down for a Saturday run and just take it easy. The drive is easy for me, 2hrs no prob. I can get there by 9 or 10, run 'til closing and head home.

You guys figure a date, but I can't go on thanksgiving break.

95Explorer, the problem with your Dads truck is the width more than the length. They let me run with my ranger and it's WB is 125. The trails are just too narrow for a fullsize truck.

Riff, Glad to hear things are finally looking up truck wise. Too bad your going to be in jail during the next run for swiping old Ron the steak man. (I just called in my tip to crime stoppers, thats how I'm funding my next run, with your butt).

Matt, sounds like you've toned down a little. Yes, I would keep it a secret, but it's going to be way cool. And by the way, where did you get those kick ass pics for your truck link?????????????????? :D:

Hehe, ya cool pics huh?

Well, not toned down, just a bit wiser.

Are you sure that was you Kampy that posted? I don't thinkn I have ever heard you say "way cool".

As for the exhaust, I'm going to do it after my body lift.

Ah! I wanna go truckin with everyone....Even if it is for a day....and Kampy..Those lock-rights are looking really good now...I think before next summer I'll have em....Any install tips when the time comes around?
Thanks everyone!
Pete

I'm game!

Wife will cry a little but I'll buy flowers and give her a weekend off just to be able to get out there again! This weekend off for my wife would work perfect since I need some time to install my 2" suspension lift I'm ordering. I also have to get 33's for this run. Man, more mods after every trip. I'm game, just let know when you thing it's gonna be good for everyone. Matt, Saturday run looks like a wise idea. I'd do the same. We can caravan down to Attica, pick-up Riff on the way and meet others at the park. Wheel and then go straight home. Sounds like a plan. Give me some time though. I'm going to OKC next weekend to pick-up my new project. My new toy. No, Kampy, not a Toyota. lol,

Any more pictures anyone??

Matt, I'll have my cassette on it's way tomorrow. Return postage paid.

Thanks,

:D

All we need to do is find a date...Andre, just let me know, I've got one week at least in december when I can't go cause of finals. Plus I'd like it to be over a break of mine cause it takes alot for me to get home on the weekend for one day of wheeling....Man, so tough to work this out.
Pete

Saw the new Ranger Edge today on the way home from CT. Looks like it borrowed the front bumper off of a '00 sport, but solid color. Other than that is't the same, well, except for the grill and lights. We passed him three or four times. We would stop to eat or get gas and then haul ass to make up time. Easy to do in a GT.

Think of any dates yet Pete?

What about those pictures Dave?

No date...I dunno...All I know are my times of my breaks which is all that really works for me.....
Nov 17-26 and
Dec 15-Jan 7th
Those are my breaks
Pete

18th?

Let's do it on the 18th, shall we???? What do you think about it?

Any more pix???

Later,

I assume ya mean of November Andre? Just lemme know...That way I can get Marc and Adrienne to go...Maybe alot of friends....Maybe I'll pack up my friend explorer with my junk and then they can jump in with me.
Pete

November, I mean November 18th. It should still be somewhat warm and no snow. You never know though. Let me know. I was thinking about heading there early Saturday morning, wheel till dark and then just head home.

What'ya think?

I might go

I might go wtih you guys I will take my truck but I will be towing a ATV with it. If Kampy and Matt don't go and you guys want to try some of the orange trail I am the only person who stayed last Sunday and knows what it is like and I can show you through. I say "some" because some places I don't think you can go through, but we found a way.
