Ok so i went to auto zone and i found their universal shackles because i was going to do the TT and the shackles to get about 1 1/2" of lift but i was told to stay away from that because he said i will screw up the truck geometry by doing so and making the tires like this / \ ultimately wearing down the inside of the tires. Is this true?

If you don't get an alignment afterwards.

Yeah, getting an alignment takes care of it and makes your tires like this |--|:D
Then you won't have any problems. If you don't get that alignment though, your tires will wear bad. So be sure to get it.

ok and he also said that when lifting the front instead of the TT you can unbolt the torsion bar and adjust to new hieght and that you can get about 2" from that no more is this true?

thanks for the help guys

i bought these and they have worked well , and there pretty decent price !!

The warriors are much nicer and stronger, plus give an extra .5" of lift versus the autozone shackles.

If you back the screw out, it will lower it. If you unbolt it, it will do nothing but cause that side to drop on top of you and cause the torsion bar assembly twist around possibly knocking your head off.

kinda weird, shakles are for the rear, that wont make them out of allignment, since you cant align the back ones.... from my experience those guys that work there dont know much of anything.... he is right that adjusting the front torsion bars will put your truck out of alignment, you just have to go get an alignment done.

ya i was saying BS in my head when he was telling me all of this but then this guy knows more about vehicles then i do so i had to show some respect but thanks guys i will prob go pick them up next week and try them. but i do realize that they are not warrior but nor do i want to spend 80 bucks when these are 13.99
Thanks
Chad

If you wanted to, you could always make your own, too. They are simple in design.

You get what you pay for.

you should have heard the guy trying to sell me spark plugs the one time i was in there, sounded like one of those 3am infomercials on tv hahaha

i bought the Warrior 153's and put them on, very over built - heavy duty! ya they are 80 bucks. but ya get what ya pay for.

so you guys are just saying that i should just stick the the warriors then because of durability? and also where can i go about ordering longer bolts for the torsion bars i found a link on this site but cant find it any more
Thanks
Chad

I've been running Autozone shackles for two years now, but I put a center support in between the two bars. I wouldn't run them as they are sold.

ok two things

Charlie you said that i can make my own should i just venture over to say home depot or lowes and pick up? i my buddy has a welder and i have stuff to drill holes in it with is that what your getting at?

and second

what size bolts do i need like width and thread size and should i go witht eh 110mm or the 120mm?

I would use 3/8" by 2" flat stock, you will probably need about 4 feet of it. You will also want 2x2" square tubing for the center support. Use 9/16" bolts, preferably grade 8 as it is stronger and more corrosion resistant. As for the length, I'm not sure, probably right around 6".

Dan

3/8" would be preferable but 1/4" will be just fine -- I know how much harder it is to cut and weld 3/8" so I would rather opt for a fully penetrated 1/4" than 3/8" with a bead floating on top of the metal. But yeah if you have the capability to handle 3/8", then by all means.
