Badlands 08

Accomplished by:

1) strapping you in the Explorer
2) rolling the Explorer upside down on its roof in a rockpile

Resulting in your view of rock crawling being "turned around" -- the rocks become more intriguing, closer and more intimate :D

Now i wouldn't want you to ruin your X but...if you say so.

Close to 600 views and only about 12 people have spoken. Come on i know there's more of you that want in on this.

You will find when planning anything like this that you and the few interested will have to do all the talking and inviting.

Ok then everyone start inviting :D:thumbsup:

Plus this is still kinda of far into the future

Clearly you do not know what it's like to set up a midwest run. It's always difficult. The most successful runs have been the EF Anniv runs, but between that, the runs are sparce with only a few trucks. Myself included have flaked out of a few runs but now that I've got a dedicated wheeler, i think that will happen less. My biggest problem is work. Hopefully we can get something together with a few smaller and a few bigger trucks so we can explorer the whole place.

All you guys have good points. I don't know i wish it was sooner as i really wanna go. I need someone closer with 4x4 so i can go to cliffs more often, granted i know i can tackle one of the trails no problem but its no fun alone.

Well I'm close enough to the cliffs. I'm not far from you at all. I live near the court house. My only problem is, my trailer is stored in Lake Geneva WI so I need a good week notice (not including work) to be able to go.

This is a bit away (time wise)- I can't say if I can go yet or not, its pending work as with some other people. Its only 400 miles away, not too bad of a drive for me, especially given the fact that I drove 1500 miles to Moab.

Later in the spring is better for me- I work in the Agriculture industry, have to get planting season over with. I can't say when the planting season will be either, it gets here when its here.

A decent sized and mixed group would be great- I cant run with the big dogs, or run trails that have a high chance of body damage. No rocks here to climb, trails are few and far between, so my trail driving experience is limited. So 2-3 out of 5 trails will be it for me.

Well i get my new tires tomorrow so if you'd wanna go to cliffs anytime soon let me know. I'm almost always up for it.

From what i've seen/heard there are tons of playgrounds there so its not just trails. You should come as long as you don't have work.

Ok so i'm kinda (ha understatement) bored. Anyone started thier projects yet?

I agree with this, that later would be better. Plus, I also can't run trails that have a high risk of body damage, or too tough of terrain.

I would really like to be able to go to a run though, if I can make it.

Shackles to be installed soon..Thats it. Just thought I would spread some of my excitement.

Edit addition: I am aiming for this weekend, before the snow starts to fly. Otherwise, if it starts to snow, when I bring it in, it will be all wet underneath and then the garage floor will be soaked. Hoping for installation Friday night, since this Saturday I am doing a camping run. I am just worried about the bolts, even though I keep going and spraying them w/pb blaster, because they seem rusted on good. :\

:nono:Always wheel with a buddy. Number one rule.

(Sorry, but just had to say it)

I know i've made my mistakes of going out alone. But they do have recovery vehicles for the park (it does cost you though) And there's always people driving around so i'm sure someone would pull me out if i got stuck.

Come down here Thanksgiving weekend and we'll go to Cliffs :D. I think me and Kert both got away with no body damage only close calls were when we went down an ATV trail. Mainly i just want to go back and mess around in the mudholes and the few small playgrounds they got. Also if you look at the videos the one where we are coming through the creek that ledge was fun and the water was fairly deep. There was a dry bank on the left. Could make for a fun small playground. Good pics/videos too.

Well, that offer is really tempting, especially since I will be in Dubuque that week anyway. Except for that my dad wants us to go down as a family in one car, since it has been so long since we did that. Plus, they kind of want me to be with family and such.

BTW, how long of a drive is it for you to go to the badlands?

Aric literally lives maybe a 15-20 min drive from me and he said its about 4 hours. Deffinetly a weekend thing I'd leave friday night though after work. So i'd have a day and a half of wheeling. Cliffs an hour away almost to the min. I just need friends with smaller vehicles willing to go. (Everyone is stock or has a fullsize rig)
