I was in an inside lane at a redlight, the geo pulled up in the outside lane (his lane merges into mine shortly after the redlight) the light turned green and I punched it.. and he farted off and was a car length ahead of me very quickly.

It wasn't just a geo it was a beater geo with purple window tint pumping out black smoke. It didn't beat me as bad as the 2 acura legends tho.. 2-3 car lengths on both of them before I even broke 30

its inconsistant, sometimes its dirt slow, sometimes its fine. Sometimes I'll take off from a redlight and hit 3500rpm for every gear and be passed by a conversion van with a fat old lady in it.. sometimes I'll pull ahead of a camaro.

Darkfox-1, if your X is shifting at 3500 rpm's at wide open throttle something is wrong...

Exactly what I'm saying. My '96 5.0 when punched hits if not then near to 5000 rpm. I'd worry. Now i dont remember what engine you have, but my '93 4.0 would only shift at about 3500 like you said. That's the only thing that would make sense.

james-t... What size are your cobras. And how much did you pay. I'd love to get some 17's or 18's. Just too pricey. Not to mention the extra weight. Thanks.

round and round it goes...

where the thread stops, no ones knows.

DarkFox-1 i know what your problem is! 99.999% chance this is it, and it wont cost you a dime to fix it. i just now realized mine did the same thing when i bought it 2 years ago. do a search on "throttle cable". your throttle cable is stretched. when i got mine, it would only shift at like 35-3600 rpm, and never really felt like it was running at wide open throttle. fixed that, and it made a HUGE difference. if you want details, e-mail or PM me.

explorer4x493- if you have a first gen. X thats a 4x4 then you will have to have the center of the wheel machined out so it will fit over your hubs. this is not a very pretty mod. i have the 1995 17x9 Cobra R's with 255/50's on the front and 275/50's on the back and lowered 2"...

james-t... no i'm a 2wd. What kind of lowering kit did you use?

remove torsion bolts in front and 2" blocks in the back.

james t- How exactly did you remove the torsion bolts, and is this a hard process? And you said you removed the 2" blocks in the back?

check out the "going for the gusto" thread in the lowered susp. tech forum. it will have all of the info you will need.
