Count me as a maybe. Not sure yet. Depends on work.

I cant make it, its my birthday and my wife is taking me out of town(although she wont tell me where yet.) Ill be going up there sometime in june with some friends though if anyone wants to join us then too.

i might be up there sunday only

hey guys, i am new to the forum but have admired all of you and your trucks for years. i only have 2wd and have never wheeled in snow but i would love to see everyone's trucks offroad and meet people from the forum. would i (and a friend) be able to be a passenger in someone's truck if i can drive myself to big bear, and would i be able to leave my truck somewhere safe? i would especially love to go because i would not be able to make moab and i dream of going there someday, and you all said you wanted to get new people out there.

I doubt there will be much snow up there by the time we head there, you have a nice truck with good clearance you might be able to make it.

There can be a LOT of snow up here in mid April. It just depends on whether or not a decent sized storm hits between now and then. If there are no new storms at all, then there will probably be no snow. If there ARE any storms before then, then there will probably be some snow.

As for 2wd, I would advise against it depending on which trails are run. A group of us did the easier parts of John Bull and Gold Mountain in May last year (totally dry) and two nicely (4" +) lifted 2wd Explorers got stuck on numerous occasions. In April, the trails could be worse.

That's not to say "don't come with a 2wd". Just don't expect to be running all the same trails as everyone else.

If i do end up not being able to keep up with you guys, would there be a couple of open seats for passengers? and is there anywhere near by i could leave my truck in that case?

Are you at Long Beach or Simi?

i am going to school in long beach, thats where i live most of the year, my parents live in simi. i could be either place that weekend, depending on whether i go to big bear or not.

Sound's like fun! I might come up for Saturday depending on what trails you end up running. Then again, we might just beable to get a couple of the smaller X's together for some easier stuff.:D

I'll try to be there, though I can't commit to anything very fun (e.g.: potentially damaging my DD) until after taxes are paid.

An update to this. Us "big dogs" have decided to have a cage building party rather than doing this run as planned. You are welcome to still run it, or wait for another weekend once we feel safe again. :p:

So is anyone still thinking about this?
Guess not?

I should be in the area one way or another since I have a friend who will be checking out one of the mines off highway 18 (north of Big Bear, past Jacoby Cyn) with a caving club on Saturday (April 14th). If anyone wants to meet up, post/pm.

We should maybe think about getting a this run moved to say June or something...
