Yeah- I won't be running those rears, but that's about what I want. They do make some really short dome style caps, I may use some of those.

The wheels I am going to use are 4.25" center hole.

I can't find out what size lug nut holes those wheels have :banghead: It's going to matter when I order my rear spacer/adapters.

This is actually coming together- I found a set of 4.10's for $50 and a Yota IFS box for $75. Whether or not they are still available, I don't know yet, but if they are, I'll have most of my parts pretty cheap.

EDIT: I want to use SS center caps, the steel ones rust way too quickly.

RockRanger- I can't see how I can use a forward facing steering box- it'd be right in the way of where I need to mount my panhard bracket and coilovers.

BTW, I'm watching your 3 link build, I'm not too far behind you.

There just isn't much room there to mount stuff up there on the frame.

I just tossed this out as an idea. Wasn't sure if it would work better or not.

I need some 5 on 5.5 hubs (where are you JamesT?) to complete my conversion.

.

I took the rotor and hub off of a TTB f150. Worked perfect for me. They still had the machining marks on the rotors.

Hubs/rotors are cheaper to buy new. Ive bought a couple of sets of F150/FSB hub & rotor combos at Autozone for like $30 a side. Find some junkyard ones in decent shape, have them turned, blah blah blah, you may as well buy new ones. :)

I just priced a set for mine from auto zone they were like 50.00 a side with hubs.

Have you checked out this website: http://www.4x4axleinfo.com/
It has all sorts of cross reference info on the D44 such as running ford hub and rotor on chevy/fsj knuckles w/ small bearing spindles.

What vehicle did you ask for? I know they used to be cheap, Not so sure they still are.

wow how did your Mounty do pulling that trailer with super heavy wagonner on it?
I know my 96 will hardly come to a stop with just the flat bed trailer!

Autozone is showing them not available anymore. I know used to you could get the hub/rotor assembly cheaper than the hub or rotor single. They used to be $25 a side and then went up to $50. FYI- you can tell them any solid axle 1/2 ton Ford... they're all the same, 75-79 truck, 78-79 Bronco, 76-77 Bronco, and i think most of the TTB Ford stuff except for maybe one year (cant remember exactly)

The mounty pulled like a champ. James Henson made a towing tune for me, it is amazing. Transmission temp stayed low, plenty of power.

Brakes sucked- the trailer has surge brakes, but they don't work. The trailer weighs 3000 lbs empty- it didn't like to stop with just the trailer. I only went 6 miles, I kept my distance from other vehicles. I missed having electric brakes.

The good thing is the waggy axle has big ole rotors and calipers- I think my braking will be improved.

Big callipers may require a bigger master cylinder :) F-250 hydro boost would be ultimate!

Speaking of brakes (on SAS) -- I ran big Chevy K-20 calipers (same calipers on all 4 corners) with the stock master cyl and it seems fine but pressure is definitely low when your trying to hold the vehicle up an incline. But I dont think its a big master cylinder that you want -- what you want is a master cylinder with a small bore which will increase brake pressure. Like if you have a 1" bore master cyl, go with a 7/8"

Nobody has reported needing to change the master cylinder with the larger calipers on the swap threads I read. Except Section525, he replaced his because he fubared it whilst bleeding the brakes.

I'm cruising for some bearing hubs- the new prices have skyrocketed recently :(

If anyone has any spares, let me know.

97-v8 has but he's running a D60 and whatever else is in the back combo (with larger caliper volumes). But you'll probably be fine since you're sticking to the original (or close to) brake setup.
