The heater fan on my 2000 SEL remains on when the ignition is switched off. This occurs sporadically, and switching the heat/AC off has no effect - the fan continues running. To date, it seems to shut off after an hour or so.

I'm thinking its the relay sticking closed on an always-hot circuit, but the cheesy diagram in my haynes manual seems to suggest that the supply side of the relay is only hot when the ignition is on. Moreover, it doesn't tell me where the relay is located. Since its only a $10 part, I'd happly stick a new one in if I could find it. Our local dealer was helpful enough to print out a diagram for me indicating (as best I can tell) that the relay is somewhere in the console above the rear heater vent. Problem is, my car has neither a console nor a rear heater.

Any thoughts on whether this sounds like a relay, and is so where I might find the little beast.

TIA, Doug

The relays are under the hood, in the power distribution box, near the brake booster-master cylinder.

Giving the relay a whack, might just get it to unstick
