BMXking's Axle Swap 1st gen. Coils/Radius Arms!!!

Well, I finally decided to start a thread on it. For those of you who don't know, I will be doing a full-width swap. High-Pinion Dana 44 front and Ford 9" rear. I am still looking for the HP D44, but I picked up the 9" Monday. For the most part, it's been cleaned up on the outside. I am going to have Cheesewerks move in the perches and move the shock mounts pretty soon(hopefully).

Thanks for giving it away. :fire:

Had to have some way of moving it around when no body was home to help me! :D

This swap is becoming popular on here, I am doing the same swap right now

dude i love the Radio Flyer..cant wait to it lifted and on those axels...just kiddin..good luck on the swap

Yeah jr. CP and I have been paying attention to your swap.

There is a 73 F100 2WD with the coil buckets still on there. If I can figure out something to bring in to the junkyard to cut the stupid rivets off with, I will be one more part closer to SAS. :D

BTW: Does anyone have a good recommendation for rims on the Radio Flyer? ;)

lows has an excelent selection...6"x2"....3"x1"...ect... :afro:

I was thinking something around 24x10 :D

I just got off the phone with Mike @ Cheesewerks and he said it would be $25 just to weld on the spring perches. He's going to add up some stuff on Mon. at the shop and let me know how much the total will be to move spring perches and move shock mounts.

Now would be the time to get some better perches. The old stockers are really short and can lead to lots of axlewrap. Longer ones would work alot better like the M.O.R.E's.

Cool project. There seems to be alot of fullwidth 44/9 swaps on here lately. :)

There is perches on ebay that are like the ones from M.O.R.E. except you have to drill your center pin hole, but they are half the cost

Yeah I planned on getting new perches anyway. I also plan on going with the longer ones to prevent some axle-wrap. Jr, do you have a link to the ebay ones? If I got those, it would only cost me $25 + the cost of moving the shock mounts.

Ebay perches link the total including shipping is $27.69 thats' alot cheaper than $45 plus shipping from m.o.r.e.
Those perches are cut for a 2 3/4" tube so you have to grind alittle to get them on the 3" tube, which may take a whole 5 minutes to do.

I also found a good buy on 5.5" rock crawler springs from wild horses 4x4,they had some springs powder coated blue and the wildhorses logo is off centered so they clearance them for $99 for the pair.

Nice! Thanks Joe. :)

Bryan.. the perches he uses are longer anti wrap style. I have a couple of sets in the garage. I would have shown them to you if I thought about it. Next time you are out this way I'll dig them out or you'll obviously see some at his shop.

Personally, I'd wait and get a lot of the stuff done at once rather than a few things here and there. And if you just need some stuff welded now and then... bring it on over. The ole welder gets mad when I don't use it enough.

Thanks Jason. I am calling him tomorrow to find out the price for spring perches and shock mounts. I am trying to get a third member with everything I need from ebay, so there really wouldn't be much more that he'd need to do if I can find the one I want. Thanks for the offer on welding too. I might be taking you up on that soon. :D

BTW, do you remember the GA 4x4 Ad-hoc on Dawson Forest Rd? I just finally found out where it was and I can't remember if you went. I want to check that place out but am not really sure how to get to the trails. LMK if you know how to get to them. :)

hey bryan did you get your axel at pull a part
