Body lifts exposing the frame

well now since i have a wider tire i rub on my raduis arms, and the edge of my fender, soo i want to add a body lift to it, but i just dont want to look like those gay chevys that have body lifts and you can see there whole frame, heck i want to barely be able to see my frame at all.

i was thinking about a 2" body lift, since i dont need a steering extension for it

will i be able to see alot of frame with only a 2" body lift?
do body lifts add or make worse viberations/ death wobble on the highway?

You'll see about 2" more than you do right now. The body lift isn't going to fix the fact that your tires rub on the radius arms...

They do raise the COG so death wobble is a possibility if you already have it.

well i dont have it, yea i know they wont fix the radius arm rub, im gettin 1" or 1.25" wheel spacers for that

the 1st and 2nd gen explorers with a body lift so nowheres near as much frame as a chevy with a body lift. they show a good bit of frame to begin with. the worst part about it is the gaps between the body and frame but u can fix that with some plastic or something to cover it. if u don't want to rub on your radius arms u need a wheel with less back spacing that or some wheel spacers otherwise u'll always rub.

I have a 2" body lift on my Ranger and the frame exposure isn't too noticable. Although I had to use a steering extension on my truck. I'm not sure of the differences between a '90 Ranger and a '91 Explorer though.

the only think i dont like about my 3 inch body lift is my hitch.. it hangs to low so i take it off when im not using it..the frame that shows isnt bad at all..there are pics on my cardomain page if u check em out..only thing really noticable is the emergency brake cable and all

I have a 2' body lift, i like it, no noticeable difference in handling, however the bumper brackets supplied did not work, and i cant find anyone to make me a set for a reasonable price. other than the bumpers it looks fine, check my pics

the instructions to make your own bumper brackets are on this site, it shouldnt be too hard really even if you have to cut the metal plate with a grinder...I got lucky and had a friend of a friend with a CNC machine cut mine for a 18 pack of beer from a Cad drawing I sent...

haha took me a while to catch that one! its monday what can i say? i still have the brackets that dont fit, maybe i'll look up that threat, its been like this for a long time and now im 6 inches in the air with 32 inch tires, so things have changed. I have a smitty built brush guard that i cant put on because of them ugly gaps. hmm im getting moto-vated

dont sweat it, even if the brackets dont work they are a since to make. Just some 3/8 plate and a 9/16 drill. And a welder.

I have seen birds sitting on my frame rails with the 3", but it dosent bother me. it makes things so much easier to work on with the BL. 2" shouldnt give you much problem, nothing you cant learn to drive with.

i think the explorer hides a body lift surprizingly well

i didnt even know they made body lifts for Tj's, until today... YUCK!

Put some sliders on it and you can hide the frame completely.

you can always cut the body pucks to the lift size you want, if i get a 2" bl i will be cutting it down soo i have 2" in the front and 1.5" in the back since the back of my truck is a lil higher and i like when the rear sits a lil lower(prerunner stance)

I wasn't too fond of the frame that was exposed on my explorer for a long time after I put on the 3" body lift. Then I went to walmart and bought 4 cans of the $0.99 black spray paint and had at it. It blends in and looks a lot better!

well ive heard they are a sinch to make, but i am a fabricating dummy, i need directions or i get lost. most of the time im lost without directions! And your right snow it makes takin the tranny out alot easier, and for some reason i keep having to pull mine out. (damn freeze plug)

is it really safe to put 1.5in spacers in the back..and 2in in the front? it wont twist the body or anything at all?
