I call it the lower radiator shroud. it hooks to the frame and directs air up to the rad. from the bottom cut out in the bumper.

now with the bumper up I can use it no more

yea!

there is no issue running with out it I was just wondering if they all have it. this is the first explorer that I've seen with it.

I was thinking it was a colorado thing since the truck was from there before I got it

man!

you guys are killing me! LOL

well!
today I fixed my front and rear bumpers.
DSCN2247.jpg

the tabs that I cut off the frame rails I welded to the top of the frame rails to pick up another mounting point for the bumper.

DSCN2249.jpg

then I got the new bumper bolts (old body bolts) in place so I could put the bumper back in place.

DSCN2250.jpg

worked out very well. a little harder to get to the nuts for tightening up but it worked out nicely.

then I moved to the back bumper which needed a little more work.
DSCN2253.jpg

the other night I started to modify the bracket so I could get the factory bolts in the f-150 brackets that came with the lift.
yes! I didn't use an explorer body lift kit.

I fitted the brackets and realized the one I started to modify the other night was done wrong. and I had to weld a bolt in place.

so you wonder how one person can do this kind of stuff in their driveway when no one wants to help. my third hand! LOL

so now it looks really good in it's finished state.

even the front bumper is looking real good!

from both side of the truck!

but!

now I have to rebuild my hitch bracket! it just never ends! LOL

Hahaha...it WILL never end. Get used to it. :p:

Nice work, looks a LOT better with the bumpers corrected.

it's all your fault!

Hahah, don't pretend you don't love it.

BTW, one of the projects I'm rolling around in my head is a custom winch mount between my front frame rails. I might need to call in some welding favors once I get the plan all mocked up. :D

The truck looks good, but don't have much ground clearance with those side steps.

the side steps will come up some when the rest of the project is done.

welding favors?? you mean your going to come over and learn how to weld your winch plate together?

I'm not going to weld it for you! I'll get you started though. how does that sound?

and how did you get that smiley up there? LOL

Nice work on the bumpers, they were the least enjoyable part of the body lift.

That sounds better, actually.

hey!

that is what part of being a member is. helping and teaching others so they can build, break and repair on their own or with friends

Looking good! :)

Really like the bumpers being brought up like that...

You still need to get a good shot up on a snow drift ;)
