Bought a 2000 ExplorerXLT

New guy here. Been reading some posts. Had a 1994 for three weeks. I'm 76 years old, former Marine. Don't move to far, or to fast. Paid $800.00 for the 2000. Couple of minor problems, drivers door lock won't lock, drvers seat not working. The guy didn't know the code for the door. Is it under the dash like on my Navigator? It has 195000 miles on it, but seems to be in great shape. I just got it tonigbt, after dark. Know more tomorrow. How can I tell which engine it has? And if it has limited slip diff? It's 4X4 and 4 door. Sorry for meandering like a lame cow. I'll try to tighten the next one up. And thanks for any help, and THANKS for this forum!

Welcome. Look on the plastic cover by the throttle body if it is plain it is the 4.0 OHV, if it is the 4.0 SOHC it will say that on the cover. Check the sticker on the drivers side door & get the code & check the list at the attached link. http://www.explorerforum.com/ntrprize/Axle.htm

It's kinda tricky, but the door code is printed on a label which is on the circuit board found up inside the driver side rear wheel well cover-trim.

Take off the door for the jack compartment, and using a flashlight, look up toward the front of the vehicle for the board-( relay box actually) with a lot of wires coming out. There should be a label somewhere on it with a 5 digit numerical code. You may need to manipulate the box to see it.
