i got mine from someone on here. perfect timing, i was lucky.
i need to learn the process of gutting the cats. i may end up doing that myself. that way i dont have to worry about fitting the bypass in before the cat when theres no room there

with them gutted and no muffler does it sound like youre open headers or does the cats shape affect the open header sound?

I still have the one functioning primary cat, and the empty 'fake' one behind it, as well as the downstream O2 Sensor so I can pass VA inspection. I gutted it at the same time I got rid of my single 2" exhaust and put dual 2.5"s on, so it was real hard for me to tell a difference, but I'd say it got slightly more raspy, kinda more of a throaty sound. I think you may be able to youtube some before/after gut exhaust clips and get a pretty good idea. For the most part it changed the pitch of my exhaust, the dual set up just made it louder I think

Don't quote me,

But I think VA inspection, after 1970something (whenever cats were mandatory), need to visually see a Primary cat before the muffler. Whether it be on the headers, y-pipe, down pipe etc etc.. and an 02 sensor, if equipped, aft of the cat converter(s). I don't think there's any rule on how far/close apart they have to be. Not sure about mufflers, I think pickups can get away without one?

The whole inspection is just visual too, so none of them have to be functional : unlike some of the northern states where I think you have to have primary and secondary cats aaand pass emmisions, thank god we don't have emissions testing..

EDIT - after researching what I just said, it looks like I might be wrong, let me keep looking this up, I'm curious about it now...

FYI You might not pass inspection with that electric cutout. I think they are illegal on the street in VA.

well i would have a full, working exhaust and a cut out before that cats with a pipe going out the side. i could just tell them its from track use i do not use it on the street? i mean all these foglights and crap say 'offroad use only' but you can have them installed... way different things, but same idea.

if not ill just get an under the table sticker again like last time lol

Not sure if it matters even if you do have a working exhaust as part of it.

i know, but just sayin lol. ill just have to try it and see, i dont see the problem really. i mean a nice fresh and clean motor, performanceish built, and a cutout, they should believe me about tracking it

Foglights wont pass va inspection either unless they are hooked up to your stock light and turn off with the high beams and they have to have dot lenses.

Yeah you are allowed 2 fog lights uncovered. Any extras have to have covers for you to pass inspection. I have covers for mine but don't use em.....I just keep em inside the truck until inspection.

ok im a va state inspecter. if u have any lights on your car or truck they must be dot approved. and you are only allowed one pair of aux or fog lights. all the rest must have covers on them or if they are for off road use only they must be removed or covered. now if they are uncovered they must shut off with the high beam

ok for your question they must be there. wether or not they are gutted we are not required to check. same for o2. if you have 4 cats there must be 4 cats if you have 2 you must have two. and cut outs are a no no. mufflers are not required.

yea mufflers arnt required. its not [unsafe] to miss this idem. and the only requirment is that the exaust exits out and away from the passanger area. trust me the book is very difficult to read and interpert
