Yeah.... sounds weird I know. The threads are still in the head along with part of the plug. The top half of the plug, including the nut, has sheared off. Anyone have any good ideas for getting the remainder of the plug out, or am I just gonna have to pull the head.... I would rather not do that obviously...

Never mind, I hooked the battery up and turned the engine over. The compression was enough to blow out the remainder of the plug. Now I just gotta try and get the threaded portion out using an extractor.

Damn! Awesome fix mate.

We extracted a spark plug from a buddy's truck that broke similar to that by epoxying a small socket to the ceramic of the plug. It's worth a shot before you pull the head...

Jeez I type slow!

<edit>

but I type faster than Jon! :D

A bolt extractor would be the first try

Mix up some acetone and trans fluid, then dribble the mixture over the threads first.

if you have a shop vac use it to remove all the ceramic debris from the spark plug hole when you finish, blowing it out with high pressure air would be good also

Yeah got it. I had hit it with acetone/tranny fluid right after I took the picture. Then once I posted, I realized the nut was the part that was flanged to hold the plug, so I figured the compression would blow out the plug. The compression blew out the ceramic portion that was left, then I was able to get a #6 easy out into the hole and crank her out. Cranked the engine over by hand until I got near the top of the cylinder, then vacuumed inside the combustion chamber just in-case there was anything left. I love my vacuum pump! Had her all back together again an hour ago.... then saw one of the injectors I put back in were leaking.... Well, I'll have the manifold back off again tomorrow I guess.

Bright side is, I took enough pictures and made note of all the tools used, so I'll go ahead and make a thread in the 91-94 section for rocker, injector, and LIM gasket replacement.

Yup, that's exactly how it starts. Now you won't be able to air up your tires without carrying a camera out. I know that burden... :D

Luckily, I have a G'zOne Ravine, one of those ruggedized phones.... so I don't have to worry about putting it in a safe place when I work, and the camera on that is 3.1 megapixels, so it takes passable pictures.

It takes great pics from what I saw in the other thread! :thumbsup:
