im interested in getting more flex for my 05 explorer xlt i have 245/75/16 alread mounted on it but i need to be able to go on tight old roads in the mountains do these increase or decrease the flex
mainly what you'll gain is ride height if you go with the 2.25/1.75 spacers. You lose some downtravel because in the front the knuckles will contact the coils as you approach max droop and in the rear the rear CVs will touch the frame as you approach max droop.
Best compromise is to go with a milder setup; no more than 1.25" front/1.25" rear will prevent the above from happening.
Lol yeah isn't going to happen with strut spacers.
I bet if you called up Brandon@BTF and told him what you'd like to do he could help you out...probably would involve leaving your truck with him for a while though.
assuming with the sas your lifting it a bit you will either have to relocate the rear diff much lower and or cut out lower frame below axle and install a larger C noch...
Imo I would do both at the same time, don't see why I'd do all that work to be dissapointed or not get all the benefits.. just my opinion though
i was hoping it would be easier as in just undo front put jeep dana 30 in as a way to level out it would be nice to have longtravel, rockwells, and michilin xzl
under it though and a cummins diesel
Hmm you're right he does. I don't think the tread on his tires is too aggressive though so that might help keep the shoulders from rubbing. Scratch that last comment about wheel spacers.
i'm thinking about adding shims to my front and rear spacers as i want to get more lift out of them. Now that i wont be doing any offroading with my truck, i want to shim my spacers another 1/4" or 3/8" to achieve a 2.5+" front, 2+" rear. think it would be worth my time just to gain another 1/2" or so?

I have an 04 with 2.5 front and 1.5 in the rear. I am not hard on my truck at all. At times when I need to give it a bit more gas when needed there is a weird vibration in the front. The best way I can think to describe it is the right and left are loose and moving front to back in opposite directions of each other. I can feel the vibration and hear it. If I let off the gas and ease back into it at times it will go away. Any ideas what the problem might be?
A 2.5in spacer is very big and you most likely are rubbing the upper ball joint on the coil. With a spacer that big you should have new Upper Control Arms whether off roading or not.
