catalytic converter (s)

hey guys i have an 03 mounty but im posting about my brothers '00 mounty. He got a CEL, took it to the shop and they told him he needs to have a catalytic converter replaced... and that theres a few of them. Moreover, they told him its gonna cost him $2,000. My jaw dropped at that, so i wanted to know if you guys could offer some advice on where to get the parts cheaper, and whether this is a bolt-on/ bolt-off job? Ive done a few exhausts and basic engine maintenance. Advice?

An aftermarket set of high flows will cost a lot less then the stock replacements from ford.

As long as you do not live in California any competent shop can replace the cat convertors. High flow cats will run around $75 ea + installation.

Summit Racing is a good place to look.

yea my buddy's cats went bad and the shop wanted 1900 to do his i called my buddy at mienekee and he did them for 425 for both installed

if its the same as an 00 explorer here is a magnaflow direct replacement bolt on for 276$ and just bolt it in yourselfs
