Soft is ideal. That way you can control them with the right shock.

I would just run it till it blows and swap a C5 auto in when it does. Maybe add a tranny cooler and temp guage to keep an eye on it and run it.

We swaped a 98 Tj 4.0 into Tracy's 84 cj7 and it passed CA emissions no problem. The smog ref is down off of 99 and jenson area.

If you really want the 5.0 Id sell yor truck and get a 5.0 awd one and the sas that one. Swap in a low range tCase and be done with it. It would probably be much cheaper the doing an engine swap in yours. I think the 4.0 has pretty good power but I guess more is always better

Another option is www.bentandtwisted.com sells an extension for the stock radius arms to make them longer. Then wrist one and you would have a ton of front wheel travel.

do you have the OHV or the sohc 4.0, caus if its the sohc the c4/c5 swap wont work on yours. And I also dont think they would work on a newer 4.0, because in that case you could swap the newer 4.o ohv onto a 1st gen a4ld and viceversa.

i have the ohv but i dont wanna swap tranny's i just want to freshen it up
