Cheapest Electrical Upgrade

So I was wondering what the cheapest way to upgrade the electrical side of my system. I have a little light dimming, nothing major, but I don't like it. Should I go extra battery? Batcap? Capacitor? Help me out. Here's my system.

(2) Kenwood 2 Channel's pushing out 100 Watts RMS x 1
(1) Jensen 4 Channel pushing out 100 RMS Watts x 2
(1) Boss 4 Channel pushing out 520 Watts x 2
(1) 1 Farad Cap.

Remember, I'm looking for cheapest, I don't NEED to upgrade, but I WANT to.

If you already have a cap, then you need to upgrade the alternator.
 






Your going to get dimming no matter what. The best thing to do although its not really cheap is upgrade to a 200 amp altenator.
 






what kind of shape are your battery wires in
 






Upgrade the alternator, then add batteries, I think anywhere from 6 to 10 extra batrys should be fine :D

My X is an '01 with only 15,000 miles, so they are in really good shape.
 






For less than 20 bucks you can upgrade your "Magic 3" wires. It won't help as much as a high output alt....but it reduced my dimming problems almost to zero....about all I get now are some jiggles on my voltage guage when I'm really bumping it.

I used 2 guage wiring from lowe's...or you can use heavy duty battery cable from your local auto parts store...it's a little easier to bend. Also, get some big gold plated crimp on wire spade terminals (circuit city).

*disconnect your negative battery cable first

Run your new wires to the following places (no need to replace the factory wires, just leave them all there too):

-Neg battery terminal to the body of your vehicle...i just found something else that was grounded to the body nearby and cleaned the hell out of where the wire terminal would be touching the body, then I coated that spot with dielectric grease.

-Pos battery terminal to the terminal on the alternator...it's the terminal with a threaded bolt and a nut holding on the wire that's already there. (the one with the threaded bolt). Again, used dielectric grease at this connection.

-Engine block to the body. There was a place on my upper intake manifold where a bracket had been bolted onto it....I just used this as the engine block connection, and then I found somewhere on the body nearby where something else was grounded and used that connection, again, cleaning the hell out of it and coating the site with dielectric grease.

And there you have it. Shouldn't cost you more than 20 bucks or so, even if you buy extra wire.

This creates a nice big path for current flow...hopefully you'll be able to get the same good results that I did.

Also, for good measure, you might also try taking off your battery cables, polishing up your battery terminals with some fine grit sandpaper and give them a coating of dielectric grease before putting the cables back on.
