go to autozone or a parts house similar...autozone reads the code for free and you can usually get your part or a haynes book while you are there...

our autozone is a bunch of dicks and are to lazy to scan a 1994...the people say they dont have the scanner for it but i know they do i have seen the correct one...any other suggestions?

another parts store, lmao...it's been awhile since i was in enid let alone my relatives place in fairview but i believe i would make it to a napa or another autozone instead of going to the dealer...my point is i would drive to a neighboring town to get it read before i went to a stealership...

Not normal to have the CEL come on, but sorta normal for it to light up after driving awhile. That is because the engine doesn't go into "closed loop" until the O2 sensors are hot enough to produce a signal. Once it is warmed up and operating in "closed loop", the PCM (computer) can see that one of the sensors (O2 or other sensor) is out of normal range and lights up the CEL.

Its trying to tell you something isn't right.

i had the same problem...said it was too old. i was hurt cause they insulted my truck  if you are so inclined, get a service manual and it will tell you the manual way to read the codes w/ the CEL. pita, but beats paying someone to do it
