i went through a clutch in 3 months (no deep mud/water anything) it was completely gone, down to the metal does antone know who this would happen or has it happened to you before? how can i prevent this happening again? the shop which has been around for almost 40 years hasn't seen anything this bad before.

ride the clutch a lot?

Ive actually had a clutch go in a few months before. It was a LUK regular clutch. Sometimes they are just bad out of the box, maybe that was the case.

You can try Centerforce. A bit pricey, but it should last longer.

make sure your flywheel gets resurfaced too, they might of skimped on that and you ended up with a dead clutch sooner.

ive had my clutch in for almost 50,000 miles now. I'm crossing my fingers it doesnt go anytime soon

i never ride the clutch. not much wheeling on this one or towing. i took it to a shop and had them do it so it has a 12,000 mile warranty for 12 months. i was wondering if anything was wrong with my tranny to cause that much damage. the shop said we installed it perfectly.

Bad slave? Not fully releasing causing clutch wear? Maybe?
I think they just used a crappy clutch though.

I'd have them tear it apart under warranty. Even the best shops can screw up sometimes.

shop said slave was fine. now I have a 12 month 12,000 mile warranty on it. thank god

Rear main seal leak?? Oil on the Clutch will eat it up. Happened to me once

3 months is still odd.

I suspect the clutch was dragging at all times (never fully disengadged) or something with the initial install was not right.

When I bought my X it had recently had a new tranny and clutch installed-- whoever did the installation didn't bleed the clutch correctly so it was dragging a lot. It wouldn't surprise me if the shop you used didn't bleed it correctly. There's a complicated ritual in the FSM involving two people, a small screwdriver and a lot of brake fluid. It must be performed precisely and repeated several times to be effective.

So far the possibilities are...

- Flywheel went un-resurfaced

- Slave cylinder wasn't replaced or was worn, causing the clutch to drag.

- New Slave cylinder wasn't bled correctly.

- Engine oil from a leaky seal (maybe your rear main?) caused clutch to wear.

Maybe it was a poor quality clutch? Maybe you got the defective one out of the batch? Maybe the shop dropped it during installation? Damaged during shipping?

Theres too many possibilites.

i now have to go back to the shop today. they didn't hook up something right in the T case. different shop next time.

I wouldnt be towing anything with that sport , not if its having clutch issues
