2001 Mountaineer
hi.. I need some assistance. My wife's 2001 Mountaineer Premier 5.0 has an issue when the motor is cold. It won't idle until it gets a few minutes of running. It's been happening for about 6 months ( intermittently ).. I've never experienced the problem until yesterday. After about 2 minutes while trying to keep the motor idling about 600 rpm's I heard a mild pop under the hood, then the motor idled fine. Since the weather just turned a bit colder, this was my first opportunity to hear the pop, which my wife has described for months, but I just didn't believe her until I heard it. We are about to go on a trip to northern Minnesota for Thanksgiving, so some pointers would be greatly appreciated.

thanks..
bye the way, I just found this forum.. wish I was involved in it earlier

Sticking IAC valve?

I agree with the last three posts....IAC, easy to clean for a temporary fix.
