Just came across this '01 Sport Trac for sale on a Desert forum. This is the sweetest Sport Trac I have ever seen, if I had a money tree this would be mine! $190k

That's pretty sweet. And at the same time it's kind of "hey look at me, I have a dune truck that never leaves the L.A. streets" Seems a little cartooney. And at $190K you could order one built by hand by Allen Mulally himself. I'd take the Dually-Trac floating around here as the coolest.

Not exactly, this is not a dune truck it is a pre runner that has pre ran the Baja 1000 the last 2 years and belongs to someone in the Arciero/Miller racing camp, some of the best in the business. A ground up build of a pre runner of this caliber is much more labor intensive than building a stock vehicle but I'm sure Allen Mulally would love to have someones money to do that :D

This the dually you are referring to?

not even in the same league IMO but definitely unique!

People who have worked with metal and have fabricated will tend perceive things differently than others.

I'm with Brian on this one, the desert trucks is light years beyond the dually ST. Just because the desert ST is sitting pretty now doesnt mean itll be the same tomorrow - it probably just left the fabrication shop. Not many people can afford bypasses and 5 walker-evans and just rock it on the street. At least the desert truck will serve its purpose and hit the dirt, the dually ST probably wont tow anything of significant weight considering it doesnt have the suspension nor the torque to do so.

That thing is art! I bet it functions as well as it looks.

dayyum the only thing missing from that wet dream posted above is 4wd LOL

center mount a arms up front, on board shower, ac, its got just about everything! It looks to be leaking some tranny fluid??? LOL maybe not that puddle is pretty clear so maybe its not coming from this trac... only thing I could see to improve on this is ditch the F-150 clip and go back to the trac front clip, loooks so much nicer.

I wonder if the Mcneil ST Prerunner was ever resurected after the crash in Baja?

thanks for sharing, that is one wicked prerunner

It failed cuz it's not the coolest. :p:

the only thing sport trac on that truck is the doors...
i really dont like when people with tube buggys with a jeep grille call it a wrangler.
THAT is not a sport trac anymore

Interesting.. so what is the exact line at which its no longer a ST?

Thought experiment: what if I took a ST, removed two bolts and replaced them with ones from Home Depot? If we are altruists, then that vehicle would no longer be a ST because a stock ST doesn't really include Home Depot bolts. What about those B2 owners that swap in 8.8 axles with 31 splines, is that still a B2?

So I think its relative, what is a ST to me probably isnt a ST to some one else. There really is no "black and white" line because there will always probably be a gray area in between.

well when the truck doesnt have:
the original motor
original axles
original t-case
ANY of the original suspension
ANY of the front clip or bed
ANY of the interior
The only thing stamped FORD on that truck are the doors and roof skin
