Since "FROADER" is out of commission (front driver's side axle shafts and ujoint) for the time being, my girlfriend wanted to get out for the day and test out her "newly" lifted Jeep. I told her the perfect day trip/trail for us would be Coyote Canyon in Anza. I have been there many times over the past 18 years and knew it would be a great trail for her to learn about her truck and how to drive it on the trails.

Specs of the vehicle:
'06 Unlimted
4.0L
6 speed
RE 4.5" short arm
Daystar 1" body lift
Pro Comp wheels & 35" Xtreme A/T
Stock gearing (for now)

We left her house (Irvine) at about 8:30AM and arrived in Azna at 11AM.

She was still a little nervous and asked if I would drive first.

After we peaked the "hard part" of the Canyon, she took the wheel all the way to the end, and back.

On the way back home, going through Warner Springs, i've always wanted to take a ride in a glider, so...

If you haven't done this yet, you should. Our 20 minute ride felt like it was about 40. It was relaxing and exciting at the same time and I'm sure you know what I mean.

This was quite a day for us and it was much needed. To top it all off, on the way home I asked her where she wanted to stop for dinner. I swear I heard angels singing when the word that came out of her mouth was Fuddruckers!

We are going back this weekend to camp overnight. If any of you "locals" want to join us, please do. There are 3-4 trucks going so far.

Nice! Is she hooked now?:p:

She is hooked on the wheeling, but not the gliding. The pilot had to stop doing some of the maneuvers because she started feeling queazy. :D

We're going back next weekend with other couples and the ladies have to drive the trail. So this day was kind of a scouting/cheating day for Sunny.

 nice...i cant wait to move to california...im in illinois right now but moving to cali soon

Colin, did the glider go over Los Coyotes reservation? I remember wheeling up to the firetower and seeing gliders buzzing the peak.

Jeep looks good, and I like the 'happy couple' pic.

...She makes that Jeep look sharp...:D

What part of Cali. you moving too? We got a good sized group of wheelers here in SoCal:thumbsup:

Bill, yeah we went over Los Coyotes. That's where most of the lift was that day apparently. We really went everywhere in that thing. We were climbing at about 350' per minute for the first 10 minutes of the flight, besides when he did some maneuvers.

Sounds like this coming weekend is a mellow couples weekend? Some friends and i are hoping to get out wheeling somewhere this weekend too but we'll probably head another direction.

It's mostly couples, but not mellow and anyone is welcome. Bring your friends and your beers. We're friends from 6th grade with our girlfriends/wives. Your mounty will make it up the "hard" parts, Matt. It's fun for bombing the trail too. We used to do it in our 2wd Rangers and Toyotas.

How about these? Would they make it? :)

hmm something to think about since i home for a few days.

Actually they might since they are AWD. I saw a forrester up passed the hard parts before.

The trail is too short to have as much fun as you could in a WRX though.

After some consideration i think we're probably heading north to cal city instead of east. There's another rally race too. But have fun out there.

Awesome! I am still trying to find a hard water spot on the Jeeps paint! Something? Jeesh it cant be 100% perfect!! how about a streak on the windows?

Nice Jeep and looks like a ton of fun
My wife and I were checking out Canyon City (South of denver) as a place to get married, more specifically the Royal Gorge (Obviously we did get married there LOL)
there is a red helicopter down there that does $80, $120 and $160 rides....we took the $80 ride and WOW we have now been back for a total of 3 rides each , first time back the $120, then the next the $160 (10 minutes long) ride :)

glider sounds wicked, going to have to look into that! I have never heard anyone scream like my wife did when he dropped that chopper 1000' down into the canyon and banked a hard left, so wicked cool!!

Great pics thanks for sharing! nothing like having a partner/best friend to share this stuff with!

No worries Matt. You'll probably have more fun up there.

Jamie, it's got 3 nice bird **** marks on the hood that were there before she got it. We haven't really tried to get it off the right way yet, but we will probably detail it after this weekend.

So Matt when are you joining the dark side? :p:

SO what was Sunny planning to do with that rock in the 4th pic?
