Hey Guys,

I'm having a very weird problem. So on my 01 EB X, I decided to replace the CV Axles (Half Shafts). First I took off the passenger side and replaced it with a new one. Then I went to driver's side and took that one off. However, putting it on was a problem. I found that the clip on the new axle was too big. So I took it off and put the old one on the new one. It went in and everything was good. However, the problem I have now is that at low speeds I have a grinding type noise. So I jacked up the X and took off the wheels. I spun each side by hand and I can hear that the problem is coming from where the axle meets the car. Both sides make the noise, but it is louder on the driver side.

So what the heck is wrong? I only hear it at lower speeds...maybe up to 30mph...usually under 15mph. Do you think the axles I got were bad? They were new, but not by Ford.

Any help & suggestions are appreciated!
Thanks

just say they were bad and exchange them, 90% of new joints have new outers and remanufactured inners. What brand were they

Check to make sure the dust plates are not rubbing on the rotor.

Thanks for the replies. I will be giving Rock Auto a call. However, today I didn't hear them...They were made by Cardone.

I'm 100% positive that it isn't the dust plate. However, that is a good thing to check as I had that happen on another car.
