Hello, I have a '85 Ranger 4x4, I'm putting in a Cut and Turned D35/w Duff radius arms. What springs do I need for 4" of lift? Standard 4" lift springs are not working, they force the passanger side beam down so far it binds in the stub. Do I still need drop brackets to get the 4" lift? I thought the cut&turn was to elliminate the need for drop brackets. All I want to run is 31x10.50 tires Do I actually need 4" of lift?

well I answered your PM already but let me help out here.

Cut and turned means nothing to me.
Were the beams cut and turned for 1" of lift or 8" of lift? Where was the cut and turn done? Was the beam built to take into account that when you cut and turn them at the pivot the track width will be reduced, requiring the builder to add track width back into the beam(s)

Or was the beam cut at the lower ball joint and the ball joint re-located.

Basically you need to know what your beams were built to do and who built them.
Before you cut and turn a beam you need to know how much camber correction you are building in, how much track width increase is needed to either maintain stock width (and axleshafts) or increase (custom axleshaft(s))
It does not sound like these beams were built too well if you cannot use a 4" coil with stock drop brackets, something is not right.

Do you have pictures?
Where did you buy them?
Where they ever installed on a truck? (might be somebodys mistake you bought?)

In the middle of Hell, on the Parker Strip, about 20 miles south of Lake Havasu City.

Thanks, I looked at the beams and they were done by a hack. The cut was made about half way between the pumpkin and the pivot point. The beam was not cut completely through, it was just "bent up" about 3 1/2" and a triangle piece welded in to fill the gap. I'm pulling it back out and putting my stock 28 back in for now. I found a set of stock 35 beams I'll use them.

yeah sorry to say building the beams like that will not work, jsut simply turning them will decrease the track width and when you go to bolt them onto the truck you will find it will not all fit together.
The beam is a triangle between the pivot point and the upper and lower ball joint, so if you cut it and turn it for 3-4" of lift you must also re-locate the triangle...(add width to the beam)

good luck!
