It is time to rebuild my engine. Has anyone tried the Delta cam? If so what did you think of it. It is only 82.50 and Delta says it will have around the same power as the Comp 410 but have a bit more low end.

Also has anyone put in oversized ss valves and if so where did you get them from?

Interesting thread but I just want to know peoples experience with the Delta cam and who to buy oversized ss valves from.

Valves

Well, i bought the Delta cam so will see how it goes. I would still really like to know where people get oversized stainless steel valves from. Anyone?

They don't sell them anymore.if you want over sized its a one off deal but can tell you if you was concerned about the cost of the cam you might as well stop looking for valves.should have bought dono cam,he is selling the delta one.if your worried about power then you should have gone with the 422.

Not the least bit worried about the cost. I use my rig to tow a popup camper and once or twice a year go off road. It has an automatic and first and formost I need towing ability. My daily driver is a Saleen Mustang so not worried about it as a "hot rod".

The Delta cam is suppose to be real good at making torque. I am currently porting aftermarket heads as the exhaust ports are just horrible. I will port the intake ports as well and do the intake manifold. I have ordered JBA headers and am replacing the entire exhaust system. I will do the throttle body and MAF and air filter after I finish the engine.

I need to still decide if I will use sohc pistons or stock ones. I think the static compression with the Delta cam and sohc pistons might be a bit high which would require 91+ octane fuel.

Are you still using stock heads?hope your getting them tested.i wouldn't use sohc pistons,it will take you to high.if i was you i would replace your heads with a set of Alabama 98tm sense your doing port work.98tm used with stock 94 pistons will bump you to 10:1.still need 90+ gas tho.leave your maf alone unless you plan on tuning.

I already have nearly new 94 heads so I will just use them. I am going to have the block decked to make sure it has a good surface and will also have the heads decked. That will raise the compression hopefully a couple of tenths.

I haven't found any good tuning solutions except going to Megasquirt or something like that. I have Megasquirt on my turbo Fiat but don't really think I want to go that far with the truck. If I can get 25-30 hp increase I will be happy. Headwork, cam and the slight bump in compression along with good headers and exhaust should get me around there.

Oh, the heads are not Ford they are aftermarket, not sure which ones but for sure not Ford.

I am new on here but I wanted to say that delta cams rocker assemblies work awesome. and I have run their cams in all sorts of engines. the only thing to look at is the base circle of the cam.
sometimes they are ground to small.
I am not biased toward them even though I am friends with the owners.lol
but they really know what they are doing just talk to them.
I am running one of their cams in my mustang as well and it is a fuel injected 95 gt with a 351. they helped me get one that worked with my combo.
as for the 4.0 I changed the rocker assembly on my nephews 95 ex. using their repair kit and it worked great.
