I thought I read somewhere that Ford extended the warranty to 5/50k for the 07 Explorer's. Was I just dreaming?

yup your dreaming the factory warranty is still 36,000. I bought an extended warranty at 28,000 so i am covered to 75,000. If i still have it at around 73k i will extend it again if possible. To answer your question nope, your warranty is gone if you have even a quarter of a mile over 36k.

How ever i do have good news for you, if your talking about your engine and trans it looks like you might have a 60k warranty. What is wrong with your ex?

The right front brake caliper froze up at 39,000 miles.

what is your mileage? I a few months ago I went to ford due to a falty disk on my front driverside brake. They ended up fixing it only because i mentioned that i had just bought the vehical. How ever he also told me that there is a factory 18,000 mile warranty on all brake components.

What mileage do you have currently on your 07?

Well I guess I was only sort of dreaming.

Bumper to bumper is 3yr/36k

Powertrain was extended for 07 to 5yr/50k. This does not show up on the service writers computer for some strange reason. But when I showed her the Ford announcement she said she would look into it.

Won't cover my frozen brake caliper though as I have 39k on the Explorer.

Yea, that is what i thought. I figured that they wouldn't cover your brakes if you had more than 18k. Did they give you an estimate on the cost of fixing the brake caliper? I took mine to Ford a few weeks after i bought it to have the front rotors replaced and the total was about $300 bucks. They didn't make me pay though because i just bought it. Your looking at just one and its the caliper so i am interested in your total cost since our explorers are basically identical except for a year.

I just bought the part for the left front caliper ($140)
and did the work myself.
