Drilled Slotted Rotors N Brake Pads?

My 2014 X Sport has 35k on her i wanna upgrade brake rotors too drilled and slotted...
I used the search function but came up with nothing...
Has anyone put drilled and slotted rotors on their X Sport????
Just looking to find out where i should order them from... pads too..

Want a brake upgrade, I suggest sticking with OEM braking components but upgrade to steel braided brake hose. Most if not all aftermarket drilled and or slotted rotor are cheap Chinese crap that will warp on you in no time. Second "upgrade" I would do would be pads, as in EBC pads.

What do the Stages mean on the packages?

Each kit has a Stage 1- Stage 8 rating but what exactly is that?

Heat performance rating?

Good question. Searched the EBC site and others without luck. Found this on the F150 forum. No info on Stage 6-8 kits.

Those kits look very interesting. We tried many after market brakes on our Interceptor Utility's but eventually came back to OEM rotors and pads for best performance. It was either squealing or brake fade that was the constant with aftermarket.

Hopefully these new designs are improved.

Why? Why do you want upgraded rotors? Are you getting brake fade? Are you tracking this SUV? Doing autocross events? Do you even know the main reason for cross drilled and slotted rotors? I'll give you a little hint......it's NOT heat mitigation.

I recently replaced front pads and rotors(3-4 months ago) with drilled and slotted rotors on Wife's 13 XLT. The pads on it had plenty of life left in them but we were getting some shudder/vibration when coming to hard stop. Ordered Centric drilled and slotted rotors from Rockauto and Raybestos ceramic pads. Installed them myself. Extremely pleased with them. Only put them on front for now. Replaced the rears about a month before with standard rotors and ceramic pads. I would recommend the drilled and slotted rotors over standard any time. Not much more expensive than dealer rotors. I feel we are getting better performance with just on front of XLT. Go for it.

Bill, an honest question, if it's not for heat then what is it for? As I understand it, slotting and drilling rotors' primary purpose is for the "quicker" removal of water, heat and gasses. I believe gasses are not as much of a concern with modern break pads. So that would leave water and heat as the primary reasons. Can you explain your thoughts on the purpose for slotting and drilling?

To the OP, I've read (I have no actual experience here) that drilled rotors are probably best suited for street cars as slotted ones tend to wear brake pads very quickly. Again, I don't have actual real world experience, just what I've gathered from various articles on the subject.

I am interested in Bills take on what slotting and drilling actually does.

Looks and placebo effect. Some people think slotted / drilled has a "cool" look.

Slotted rotors allow the brake pads to "catch" a little better but then you run into the problem of premature brake pad wear. As mentioned, drilled sections are mostly for looks. They have no real advantage that outweigh the disadvantage, which is mostly creating more weak points in the rotors. For functionality, traditional vented rotors serve just fine for most applications.
