2019 Ford Explorer PIU
Recently bought from auction, 2019 3.5L and having some problems I can’t figure out.

The parking lights and the headlights don’t turn off. The switch is set to off and without a key in the ignition, they are on regardless of anything. Had a spare switch and swapped it out but made no difference.

When the ignition is on, and when engine is running the rear brake are always on no matter what.

Would appreciate any help and suggestions.

Thank you.

All those lights are controlled by the BCM. I would check and make sure there isn’t anything attached to the fuses, BCM connector wiring, or an aftermarket secure idle wired to the ignition switch. Might have a bad BCM if you can’t find anything aftermarket causing issues.

You also need to investigate (post LOTS of pics of) all the police wiring, including near the BCM/steering column, under the HVAC/floor console, and anything you can see in the engine bay that doesn't look factory. The headlights come on when the headlight switch is UNplugged, so that suggests some of that wiring may be cut or damaged. Pop off the side of the dash and the kick panel, and look around.

As you learn about it, add details to your signature so that we can review it when you ask for help. Remember that we can't remember how yours is built/modified or its current condition, so a signature saves you re-typing all those details (which might be more-relevant than you realize) each time we check your progress.

Welcome to the Forum. The issue is likely a result of the 'decommissioning' of the vehicle, in which they just cut and/or pulled the wiring used for police activities. Good luck.

I would recommend,
checking the vehicle's computer system for any trouble codes using a scan tool.

This is the best advice I've heard so far for a new member.
