1993 Ford Explorer
Hi everyone,

I'm new to this forumn but I have been doing research and viewing this site for years. I have a 1993 Explorer with the stock 4.0L V6, and stock drivetrain. I've done a few bolt on parts on the motor such as a custom 3 inch exhasut, custom intake and the JET performance chip but was looking into more power while also montoring mpg. I'm curious about suggestions to manufacturers or service providers ya'll know of for parts such as these. I'm also looking into front and rear bumpers, grilles, and lighting for my truck. If anyone has any suggestions towards those sort of parts it would be appreciated.

Thanks

Unfortunately, there's not alot of mods for us 4.0 guys.

Most of the good tricks seem to optimizing what we have... 2 1/4 to 2 1/2 inch exhaust, intake filter and pipe stuff, things of that nature.

The 4.0 (for it's size) has great torque. Make your mods to utilize it properly. You may not win any prizes at the dragstrip, but it's serve you well for a good long time.

^-- they said it all....

If you're looking for performance and speed, get a mustang or similar.... otherwise be happy with what you got. I've had mine for a year now and put just over 11k miles on it, the old bat has been good to me.

Ya I very much understand that I'm not going to break any speed records or anything for it's size and later on when I'm financially stable I wanna drop in a 5.0 or 4bt. Dropping that 3" exhaust was a poor decision but I was using what I had but definitely gonna throw a 2.5" next time around. Any thoughts about the benefits of performance ignition wires or ignition coils like MSD?

Waste of money,no gains.unless you do engine mods like cams or heads everything else is not going to gain you much of anything.underdrive,tb,efan and cai are the only mods that will bolt on and gain some and really only if all are used together.rest should just tune up and oem parts

Alright well I appreciate it
