The metal fan was 96-97
In 98-01 they were plastic

Plastic much cheaper for ford to build

I replaced the plastic fan and fan clutch on my beater '99 a couple years ago due to cracked plastic. Fast forward to last summer, I had to replace the fan in my '98 daily driver for the same reason. I was going to take the plastic fan off the '99 and put it on the '98 only to find that it was already starting to crack so I went with a new metal one.

Oh ok hmm maybe I will just re order the metal one mine got bent though plastic be lighter

usually metal > plastic imo it lasts a ton longer... not sure about fans, but when theres a chance i prefer to use metal (like the thermostat housings ont he 4.0 SOHCs for example)
