I would think that no one would ever make a fiberglass tailgate, because is just one of them things that need to be stong. It's just like have a fiberglass door. But i hope you find what your looking for.
I just wanted to thank both fordkrazy and RU MAN for their replies. I thought if anyone would know about a 'glass gate, it would be someone on this board. Also RU MAN, I am in the same situation as you. My 91 has big plans, but I am also currently a broke college student. Have fun. Thanks.
Actually Ru man, Jeep Cherokees (the small ones) have fiberglass rear hatches. So I don't think the hatch needs so be that strong. So it is possible to make one. I wish someone would make one with a roll down window. That would be cool.
I never knew this before until yesterday, but a Bronco II has a fiberglass hatch. ( I saw one crushed and hanging off a beat up II) The window doesn't roll down (bummer). But if one was really itching to get a fiberglass hatch on their Explorer that could be a good place to start. If you had a lot of time of course.
